I thought this might be fun...What photography gifts do you want this year? I want the Nikon 18-200 VR lens.

What do I want or what will I actually get???

I know I'll be getting a new bag. Already have it picked out and mom is going to get it for me. Thats about it though. It will be the Tamrac Adventure 9.

I would love to get some new lenses like the 18-200 you mentioned or the 70-200 f/2.8 or a 10-20 f/4, but instead DW and I went to WDW back in June so just the kids will be getting presents this year.

That being said, the work bonus is on its way and I've told DW that I'm going to get the new Nikon 70-300 with VR. So I guess I could consider that a x-mas present. :thumbsup2

What you want and what you get are often 2 different things. I'm not sure what i'm getting, hoping the wife reads the posts :)

Already got my christmas present. It was the canon 70-200 f/2.8L. An amazing piece of glass.

That was going to be my answer. But I'm not getting that.

I'm coveting a flash and wide angle lens.

It's so funny that you asked - I just made a new lens today with my camera gear wish list. Of course, I have only just begun the list! I have several more things to add. If you've got any spare change feel free to get me a gift! Barrie

I'm with rtphokie. "That was going to be my answer. But I'm not getting that."

I would like mine to come attached to the D200 :cool1: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

rtphokie, i'm also a hokie, class of 98.

I'm adding an external flash (SB600) and filters (still trying to decide which ones) to my list. I would also like to upgrade from the Nikon D50 to the D80.

I want a mountain bike so I can cruise the trails with my camera.

MIkeeee

I'm DONE. Nothing else I need and nothing else my wife would dare get me!

Last week, I picked up a used decent-quality (but not stellar) Vivitar 400mm, and I also got the legendary Pentax 50mm 1.4 (Adorama finally got some new ones in). That means that I'm up to six lenses and two bodies that I'm planning on taking to WDW with us in six weeks. She's just rolling her eyes! The only additional lenses on the "eventually" list are a decent macro and maybe a good teleconverter, but those can wait. Oh, and a good flash, but that can wait, too.

OK, there are a couple things. I may pick up an Op-Tech "S.O.S." strap for my old boxy camera bag. (I liked the holster bag I tried, until the cheap piece of junk fell apart after just a few days of use, but with this many lenses, I just don't think that it makes sense.) Anyone have one? I'm hoping it can do the same for "feel" that their Pro strap does for the camera.

I'm also going to need a better tripod one of these days. The cheap Slik one is awfully wobbly for the Vivitar 400mm, and is probably not ideal for any of 'em. That situation, however, is extremely unlikely to change between now and the trip...

I would love a canon 70-200 f/2.8L or a sleigh (real, life size) for holiday and seasonal portraits but I will have to wait on both as the kids come first. The older they get the more expensive their toys are.

I have been really busy this year so hopefully I will be able to save for the lens before the Spring season. :)

Well, I bought my Canon S3 as a Christmas present to myself. DH was going to give me Photoshop Elements 4 for Christmas but gave it to me early. So I already got my presents! :goodvibes

Actually, what I REALLY want is the time to actually sit down and work with Elements and do more editing beyond fixing red-eye and lighting up the shadows. Plus more time to go out and take more pictures with my S3!

I want a pocket sized Sony Cibershot, that way I have a camera I can carry all the time. :bounce:

So that IS the picture of you over in the "Someone Seriously into Photography" thread. :rotfl2:

I love my SB-600, especially now that I have the Gary Fong Lightsphere II. My flash pictures are coming out awesome.

Haven't gotten into the filters yet. Though eventually I will need to get a polorizer (did speel that write?) :confused3 But before that I need to decide if I'm definately going to get a new walk-around lens (ie: the 18-135, which I think I will get sometime next year).
