What I want: A new Star Wars theme Hotel.

Budget: The Tatooine Arms: Run by Watto. No landscaping or plants...just sand and rocks.
There will be sand sculptures that change with the every rain. Sandcastle contests for kids and adults.
The food court will be a cantina, and there will be a bar that doesn't allow droids.

a wrecked spaceship will be a playground. The slide will be a sarlack pit. The pool will have the skeleton of a giant beast overhead. A mock up of the Millennium Falcon will be in another courtyard.
There will be two sides of the hotel, The Empire and the Rebels. or the light and the dark side.

As a Budget, the spaceships will be sculptures, and the rooms will have a futuristic design.
Occasionally, Storm troopers will sweep though looking for two droids. They will be off duty from DHS.

1) A fortune telling coin operated machine will be in the lobby, The gypsy statue is replaced by Darth Sideous (he gives evil futures). A Yoda machine balances the force in the lobby. A fake store window offers mechanical arms, and other merchandise you can never buy (there is even an Admiral Ackbar head that says, "It's a Trap!".

It even has a nightly show: Jabba's Pallace. There will be a life-size puppet of Jaba. Many of the aliens are puppets and costumed characters. Robots, bounty hunters, and thermal detonators

The game room is themed after a Hutt run casino.

Deluxe: all of the above plus: a monorail hookup to DHS with an interior docking bay like the Contemporary Hotel. I'm at a loss for a deluxe story for this one.

I have never stayed at a deluxe hotel of any sort....I'm at a loss to place things here. Maybe a real casino...but that sounds contrary to the Disney brand.

That is what I can come up with at the moment. What would you want at a SW theme hotel?

I'd love to see a Star Wars themed resort! I could see a value resort in the style of Art of Animation with suites themed to different aspects of Star Wars. Can you imagine sleeping in a Millennium Falcon suite?

I'd love to see a new resort of ANY kind. Some folks around here know the particulars of the current resort capacity better than I. It seems like they're tractor beam focused on DVC right now and converting existing units. Believe me, if there were ever a Star Wars themed resort....I'd be chomping at the bit for a reservation!

I know they probably would never do it as it would freak kids out but anything with a haunted/scary theme would be at the top of my list for a new resort,it definitely would be a departure from anything anyone does and is probably not right for Disney,but Universal who has the super popular Halloween Horror Nights and such a great history of scary movies would be silly to at least not consider it for a future hotel.I think right off the bat as soon as you build something that unique you can easily charge a premium for rooms at an extensively themed spooky hotel.

This needs to happen. I've stayed in both moderate and value resorts and prefer the value resort, especially AoA, because of the theming. It just feels more "Disney." Let's be honest though, we will likely see a Frozen resort before Star Wars though!

You know if they do build it it will be a DVC............. with direct access to HS.....which is one part of being a deluxe-- the next would be themed restaurants and a lounge on site... and balconies...

Good idea - but if they did it - it would be a "budget" hotel with "Deluxe" prices. (Like AoA.) They would probably build it with small rooms so they could pack in a ton of people.

It would be exceedingly popular. My bet is they have it somehwere in the blue sky plans. Probably could happen if / when they get a couple of hit movies under there belts. (I wonder about the possiblity of a marvel hotel as well - quite possible because their ban on use of the Marvel Characters is limited to the parks, NOT the resorts. - However, Marvel is trickier because the actual characters are at the theme park up the road. )

I'll repeat my prediction - Disney will never construct another non timeshare hotel that they own/operate in Florida. I see third party partnerships if any are to be built.

I think they do build a new DVC only resort eventually but otherwise I agree. If they every do build another Disney hotel it's likely to be a value property like AoA I can't see another deluxe or moderate being built.

No problem with it going near to Hollywood Studios if it's a new one and close enough to the park for guests to walk.

Taking one of the All Star resorts and converting it to a Star Wars theme is another possibility. Naturally with an upgrade in price to a glorified moderate.

They make a fortune off the people staying in their hotels buying tickets, spending gobs at the emporium and world of Disney, and buying $99 dollar cupcakes under the fireworks...

Actually - that is probably the most likely tact they would take. Refurb one of the existing All-Star hotels, convert half the rooms to "suites" and double the prices. All-Star Music, All-Star Sports and All-Star Wars. HAHA. What's interesting is that until AoA, Disney had never themed it's hotels specifically around a movie. The popularity of AoA could possibly have them rethinking that concept.

However, I disagree with LockedOutLogic's premise that Disney is not going to build any more resorts that they run. There's something like 22 on-property resorts that they run. It's not like if they build a 23rd that it would then simplify operations to have someone else run that 23rd one. Until the day they start farming out the operation of their current hotels, I wouldn't predict this. (I don't think they really like having the Swan/Dolphin there.) Things like opening Flamingo Crossing to outside hotels is a completely different Animal from near-property hotels.

That said - I don't think they ever build new resorts to the extent that they did in the nineties. The focus remains on maximizing current room capacity. DVC is the cash-cow of on-site construction, so I think you will continue to see that expand instead. If there is one new stand-alone on-site resort in the next 10 years that would be the maximum. I also think if there was a new Star Wars hotel built, Disney would want 100% control of it. I could very well see a DHS hotel. When you think about it, Boardwalk and Beach Club - while having a boat route to DHS are really EPCOT hotels. There really isn't a DHS hotel. A DHS hotel could definitely be in the blue sky plans of the expansion.

Which is why the preference for DVC. It reduces the risk and uncertainty that comes with the hotel business. You have a certain guaranteed annual income to staff your hotels with regardless of whether the guests come or not.

I find this incredibly hard to believe. Do you have any numbers to back this up? Disney's hotels are huge, and are always pretty close to 80% capacity from what I understand. And much of the year, certain hotels are completely booked up. I find it hard to believe Disney is operating these hotels at a net zero, and non-disney hotels I stay at when I go anywhere else, that have day of availability and rarely more than a fifth of the rooms filled are making money, and charging far less to stay there. Not to mention the guests at Disney hotels are spending money on overpriced meals almost faster than the kitchen can crank out the food, on a consistent basis. Sure, Disney hotels require way more staff, but that's because they are dealing with far more guests who are paying much more money.
