What HS Restaurant would you choose?

The only restaurant at the Hollywood Studios we eat at anymore is Mama Melrose (we used to do 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi when the boys traveled with us). We detest Hollywood & Vine (you couldn't pay me to eat there) and Brown Derby did not impress us--mediocre food and bad service for too much of a price.

Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time definitely.
Brown Derby if its in the budget.

Never been to Mama Melrose, but can agree that H&V isn't worth it..

None of them.Quite frankly I have been under-whelmed at every single place.I like Brown Derby, but it is not worth the 2 credits on the dp, and is a little much out of pocket.

Another vote for 50"s and Sci -Fi :thumbsup2

Don't even consider HV. The service was fine, but the food was a big let-down

Well, it really depends on what type of experience you want. I think you should try either Sci Fi or 50s Prime Time Cafe atleast once. Sci Fi's food is nothing amazing, but the atmosphere is very cool. If you have kids this is a good place to go. Out of the two we like 50s Prime Time Cafe better. The food is quite good, and I love how your family relative is your waiter/waitress. We go to 50's every trip. Mama Melrose's is good for italian eaters, but my kids didn't like it. However, it's worth eating for fantasmic package.

We've been to both Sci Fi and Brown Derby and liked them both. My experience with Brown Derby was excellent, from the food itself to the service. In fact, it's going to be a repeat restaurant on our next trip.

50's Prime Time for sure. We found the food to be good (not great) and it was a fun experience. We are going back on our next trip.
I will NEVER return to H & V. It was a horrible meal. The restaurant was loud, we were surrounded by unbussed dirty tables, our waitress was rude, and the Ladies Room was filfthy.
Have a great trip

Have been to 50s PT many times and have always loved our meal there. Tried MM twice and the first time was eh but the second time it was good. Would love to go to the Brown Derby. No way will I ever eat at H&V ever ever ever again...yes it was that bad

50's PTC.:thumbsup2 We loved the food--pot roast and meat loaf were great and the kids loved the atmosphere. It is loud, so don't go there expecting a quiet meal.:dance3:

The Hollywood Brown Derby is a very nice restaurant but it is a bit pricey. I had a wonderful steak there for lunch earlier this month. Their Cobb salad is also very very good. Mamma Melrose is a very good value if you like Italian food. 50's PTC does not appeal to me anymore, I just had too many mediocre or poor quality meals there. Sci-Fi is a nice experience, but I just was not impressed with the food there at all.

pirate: We really like the Brown Derby and we don't break the bank when we go. We are not pinching pennies but we are not alcoholic drinkers and usually just have water with meals - - and for sure one of us will get the Cobb salad! We never do the dining plan as we don't eat as much as the plan gives, plus we don't want the hassle of all that ADR scheduling! But that is just us - to each their own!

Brown Derby... no question!!! It is SO good and the service is impeccable... at least that has been my experience.

Wow I guess no one like H&V:confused3:rotfl2: ,we ate there and It ws not bad,we liked it.I understand every one has there owen taste and I will never tell any one they should think its good, but I do think you should go in there with a open mind and see for your self. On another note Brown Derby what would you say the food Is like,I mean Is It a steak house, tradinational amercian, Seafood, Etc.

You can check out the Brown Derby menu here.

I am personally a fan of the Cobb salad but there is quite a variety. Definitely upscale. And not inexpensive. But very worth it, in my opinion.

I have also heard great things about 50's Primetime Cafe for a more casual experience.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is a must for dinner for us. The salmon w/gorgonzola polenta is fabulous, service and atmosphere is nice too.

We had a pretty good lunch at Sci-Fi recently too, the onion rings are delicious!!! The shrimp pasta was decent, but nothing special.
