We are just about to take our 3rd trip to the wonderful USA and will be visiting DL for the 2nd time (previous didn't have the Californian Park). Last time we stayed at the Super8 and were a little bit dissapointed as our travel agent didn't warn us on how budget they really were. This time I will be booking via the internet myself and have found some great rates at the hotels in front of the DL entrance i.e. approx $65US which is about $84 for us here. My question though is how would you rate the 6 that are directly in front such as the Park Vue Inn and Carousel Inn & Suites which look o.k OR are there better say within a block or so (i've seen one called Parkside Hotel, but itprovides no real photos so a bit dubious on that one). It would be greatly appreciated on any one's views and also how busy is it between the 20-25th June or is it better between 2-6th July??? Thanks

WE REALLY LIKE THE WESTCOAST ANAHEIM, A COAST HOTEL. WE USUALLY PAY AROUND $70 PER NIGHT, BUT THERE IS A COFFEE SHOP DOWNSTAIRS AND IT IS INDOOR CORRIDORS. ALSO ABOUT ONE BLOCK FROM DISNEYLAND ENTRANCE, DEPENDING ON WALKING STYLE ABOUT 10 MINUTE WALK WITH A 7 ELEVEN ON THE WAY WHICH WE LIKE FOR GETTING WATER ADN SUCH. ALTHOUGH THEY ALSO HAVE A SHUTTLE, THE ART FOR ABOUT $3 A DAY. HAVE FUN!

holding baby while typing and just realized. Sorry it's about 4:30 a.m. here! Good night!

Of the ones directly accross the street in front of the entrance.....

I hear consistantly to stay away from Park Vue. I cocsistantly hear good things about Best Western Park Place Inn

Another option is around the corner at Candy Cane Inn. Thatis a great motel. Great service, nice free breakfast. Completely walkable. But it does have its own bus service that is extra reliable.

I hear mixed reviews of Carosel and Desert Inn. Some very good, some sucky.

I use Priceline alot, but i would only use there three star options. Too many icky one and two star possibilities on the strip,

I have stayed at a few of the hotels right next to Disneyland and read loads of reviews of all the accomodations around the area.
The Parkside Inn is usually listed as a one star or less or not any at all. I read one terrible review. It is an old motel and I would avoid it.
The Park Vue was just okay. It has an excellent location but is also an oldere two story motel and while the room was clean and comfortable the soundproofing was not good. Others have reported bad service and rooms here.
The Desrt Inn and Suites and the Carousel Inn both get decent reviews. Both seem to have nicely remodeled rooms and some that have yet to be worked on so there are both good and bad reviews. Both have excellent locations.
The Park Inn is a nice place and is remodeling their rooms.
The Tropicana Inn has recently remodeled but some rooms are already getting a bit worn. The price is usually good and the location is great.
The Best Western Park Place Inn and minis suites is where we stayed a month ago. It is bland on the outside but the rooms were nice and comfortable ( a bit of noise came through the window and door) and the location is the best, aside from Disney's Gand Californian.
My two favorites are just a couple minutes longer of a walk. The Howard Johnson which has interior coridors and balconies on most rooms. The rooms are comforatable and clean though a bit bland. The grounds are pretty here too.
The other favorite is the Candy Cane Inn which is a pretty two story motel that was renovated into a sort od New Orelans styl garden motel.
Here are a couple links with motel locations.

Thanks everyone, it gives me a bit more info. on the hotels as the glossy brochures the agents provide here in Australia give a different picture of course ;) if you go by them the Park Vue is one of the best- thanks for the links too :D and the info about the parkside inn as i thought maybe it was a bit dodgy due to no pictures on any of the sites..............Can't wait to be there again::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Candy Cane Inn would be my favorite, but the others have the better location and are next to quite a few resturaunts.

Did anything happen to the Castle Inn and Suites? We stayed there Sept98 and loved it. We have 4 kids, so that affected our decision.

It is still there but has been getting mostly bad reviews. Apparently the rooms have not been remodeled or well taken care of since the place opened.

That's too bad. 5 years ago I would've recommended it to anyone.
