DH and his partner have just purchased 5 acres of land. They are planning on putting up an EXPRESS hotel. Which hotel chain do you perfer..i.e...Comfort Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Quinta Inn, etc etc.?

I would like to hear from all the DISer's out there that travel not only for pleasure but for business as to what and why they like a particular hotel chain!! :goodvibes

They are also contemplating next to this hotel, a Paniera Bread, Olive Garden (or Bugaboo Creek) and a Coldstone Creamery (ice cream parlor)! Do those seem like popular restaurants? What is your opinion on those choices OR do you have other choices that would be better or that you have a particular fondness for...? :goodvibes

MANY THANKS!!! :thanks: :jumping1: :disrocks:

My 2 fav non Disney hotels are the Westin Horton Plaza in san Diego
and They Hyatt Regency in Downtown CHicago

Edited, Sorry,I didn't read the whole post... I like the Holiday Inn express .
Love Panera!

We like Springhill Suites. Of the ones you listed, we also like Comfort Suites (the news ones, but we stayed in an awful old one YUCK!).

We like Panera, but we also like the counter serve Mexican restaurants, like Baja Fresh.

We like to stay in Drury Inns and Holiday Inn Express... I think the world needs more Macaroni Grills or something along that line... casual but excellent!!

Love Panera!

Am with you if you mean the Hyatt at Wacker Drive in Chicago..love that place!!! Also I love Renaissance Hotel ( white plains, ny and Boston ,Ma)which is by Marriott... Panera and ColdStone are good food chain I think.. well I just love them so I think they are good

I'm very loyal to Hilton family hotels. I've never had a bad stay at their hotels, and their loyalty program, Hilton Hhonors, cannot be beat! We're treated like royalty.

Any of the restaurants mentioned should do fine. All 3 are routinely packed out by us. DH and I went to Coldstone yesterday. We waited in line for 20 mintues and paid almost $9 for two small ice creams and were (almost) happy to do it.

I will say that Panera might be more useful next to a hotel since they serve food appropriate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offer a nice place for an evening coffee. They would have something to offer hotel guests all day.

I travel on business ALOT and as far as Express hotels then I like the Hilton Garden Inns and the Courtyard by Marriott.

Olive Garden or Macaroni Grille are good choices for table service restaurants. Panera Bread or Baja Fresh are great counter service ones. I looooove Coldstone Creamery too.

:)

Yup,that's the one... There is also a Hyatt Regency at Ohare, but I've never been to that one... Sad though,to think that 100 or so people dies in the river right across from the Hyatt on Wacker

We really like Hampton Inns. They're pretty much consistent everywhere. I've stayed in Comfort Inns, Days Inns, Holiday Inn Express, Best Westerns and Hampton Inns, and Hampton Inns are the best
The Olive Garden near us is packed no matter what time of day. Always a good choice. Panera is very popular too

My favorite chain is Hilton (can't stand Paris, but liked the chain before she became famous)

However, out of the examples you gave I also like La Quinta. Each one I've visited has been very clean, well decorated, great water pressure, and nice bathrooms.

I used to be strictly a Marriott person until I stayed at a Hampton Inn for a business trip. It was great! They have these fabulous new beds that are like sleeping in a bunch of marshmellows. I have never slept so good... they also have a hot breakfast in the morning that was SO yummy with a person down there constantly cleaning and replenishing and greeting each person. Plus the cookies at night are a good plus =)

After that stay, I now seek out Hampton Inns over all other express chains.

I think all 3 restaurant choices are good. I love Panera!

Edited to add: Hampton Inn also had free WIFI that worked ALL the time LOL and a mini fridge in each room. Very nice amenities!

Newer La Quintas are nice and Holiday Inn Expresses are usually great roadside inns and seem very popular.

As for the restaurants, those are good but they may want to consider a coffee shop type place since most of the smaller hotels don't have restaurants. Or maybe a Cracker Barrel which appears to be wildly popular. (Or at least it is with us. ;) )

I travel about 1/3 of the year. My first choice is Holiday Inn Express and second would be Hampton Inn. I like the breakfast at Holiday Inn Express a little better than that at Hampton Inn. I have always had a fridge and micro at HI in a two bed room. There have been some Hampton Inns where I did not have a fridge unless I upgraded to a suite. They both have dsl and/or wireless.

We really like Hampton Inn.

If you were going to go the non-express route, definitely Homewood Suites. We lived out of a standard-sized Homewood Suites room for three months last year (DH job training)... with a Golden Retriever and 2 cats. We were comfortable, although the kitchen area was difficult to cook much of anything on (thank goodness for the dinners they served).

We like the Holiday Inn Express chain. Where we have traveled in the past year, they've been plentiful, fairly new, and are reasonably priced. We also like that we can get a slightly bigger room -though I don't recall if they call they suites though.

OP HERE:

Thank you all sooo much...keep them coming... :thumbsup2

DH just came in from a Planning Board Meeting here in town and I told him that I posted here on the DIS Boards and he was THRILLED to pieces as he felt this was an awesome forum to get great opinions!!! :goodvibes

:jumping1: :disrocks: :thanks:

I've had good luck so far with the Holiday Inn Express.

Holiday Inn or Fairfield Inn and yes, they would be good restaurants to be next to.

We are usually happy with Holiday Inn Express. Also, I vote for Panera. Good luck!
