What Hotel Chain Do You Like?

We like Marriott hotels....of course the full service hotels are the best, but we have always had a good experience in The Courtyards. We have tried Fairfields twice and been disapointed both times...The Fairfield staff was fine but we didnt care for the atmosphere at the hotel.... My dh's co. has been using Comfort Inns, Holiday Inn Express, and Hamptoms and he has been happy with his stays...
I also think it is very important to have quick and easy access to good and reasonably priced restaurants adjacent to hotels...

I am also a fan of the Hilton brand and very much like the Hampton Inns we have stayed in. As far as a restaurant, a Panera would be good to have next door to pop in grab some food and head back to your room.

Courtyard is a favorite. We also like Amerisuites.

A Panera Bread is perfect for a business hotel area. Coldstone may not do as well in a business park type area.

What we like in a hotel:
Free wifi
Free breakfast(although not offered by Courtyard)
Free USA Today (shameless plug since my income is dependant on it)
Decent channel selection-remember some families go on these business trips-more than the local channels and news is needed.
Clean rooms
A decent price

I prefer Hamton Inn, and will try to avoid sleeping at a Hilton, for a childish reason: Paris Hilton will NOT go shopping with the money I paid there. (sorry, I told you it was childish)

What about an Earl of Sandwich place? Now they had good food! :)

Hampton Inn would be my first choice for a moderate hotel, which is what it sounds like they are looking for. When I just need a room for a night, that's always what I look for. I also like the Hilton Garden Inn's but find them pricey for what you get sometimes.

Putting an Olive Garden next door to a Hampton makes a lot of sense, as Hampton's don't have restaurant facilities except the breakfast bar area. I know after I've been traveling all day, the last thing I want to do is drive someplace for dinner, it's nice to be able to just walk to a restaurant next door.

For overall hotels, my preferences are Fairmont, Four Seasons, and Ritz Carlton, although I'd never spend the money at one of those if I was "in transit" and simply needed a place to crash.

When my husband travels, he needs hotels that have 24 hour room service, are clean and safe. He has been known to move entire crews from a hotel if it doesn't meet those standards. The reason for 24 hour room service is that on many days his hours are very long, sometimes he'll only go back to a hotel to shower and get two or three hours sleep and the last thing he wants to do is hit a restaurant. His first choice is usually a Marriott.

For me, I like a place that is very clean, comfy mattress and pillows and has a nice clean pool for the kids to swim in.

We've stayed a quite a few hotels recently while visiting colleges for DS. Our new favorite has become the Hampton Inns. I actually look for a Hampton Inn first now if we're going to be staying over somewhere. Love the free hot breakfast! Olive Garden would be our choice for an adjacent restaurant.

I really like Hampton Inn. I've found them to be very consistant. I've never had a problem with their cleanliness or their customer service. Their breakfast bar is pretty good too.

An Olive Garden would do well for a full service restaurant. (I have nothing against Macaroni Grill, but I know many people who dislike them for some reason or another.) A few Panera Bread's have opened up around me recently and they have all done well. As for the Coldstone Creamery's...let's just say that winter, spring, summer, and fall, there is always a line.

We have always liked Hampton Inn. :) We would go to a Coldstone if it was next to a hotel that we were stopping at. I like Panera Bread, but I think its kinda funky for kids, which is something I would keep in mind depending on your location.

Maybe post a poll, be easier to tally your results! :) Good luck to your DH with his business venture! :wizard:

I also like Hampton Inns. We have stayed in them all over the country and each one has had the same level of service, quality of rooms, quality of food for their breakfasts, etc. I know that if I can find a Hampton Inn, it will be an good place to stay.

Another one to look into would be Microtel. If it is just DH and I, say before a flight out somewhere, we will stay in a Microtel. The ones we have been in are clean, good staff and VERY reasonable price. They don't usually have a pool or extras like that and the rooms are small so we don't stay there with the family.

As for restaurants, you might want to consider more of a family type place that serves 3 meals/day. Not that I like Perkin's but that type of place.

Am with you if you mean the Hyatt at Wacker Drive in Chicago..love that place!!! Also I love Renaissance Hotel ( white plains, ny and Boston ,Ma)which is by Marriott... Panera and ColdStone are good food chain I think.. well I just love them so I think they are good

Completely off topic, but I had a TERRIBLE stay at that particular Hyatt. Granted, I was there for a huge meeting (which had been moved to McCormick Place from New Orleans), and they had overbooked 250 rooms, but I suffered for it.

On topic, I've had consistant experiences with Hampton Inns. The other chains have been variable; good in some locations, poor in others. The Hamptons haven't always been the best, but they have always been at least average.

Another vote for Hampton. I love when we get free breakfast and free internet. That is one of my biggest complaints with some of the "Nicer" hotel chains, you get charged anywhere from 10-20.00 per day for internet.

For food I am partial to Panera Breads, like someone else said, all three meals are covered and it's not all that expensive.

OP HERE: OMG...you all are so awesome!!! I am guessing we need to seriously consider the HAMPTON INNS chain for this hotel!

ALSO I like the WIFI...absolute neccessity in this day and age....

ALSO a complimentary type breakfast at the INN...

ALSO a BIG YES has been consistently w/Panera Breads...

You DISer's are all so fabulous

My family is all about Marriott and their chain hotels, Courtyard, Fairfield, etc. The Marriott Rewards plan is awesome. I book all of my business trips through Rewards, so we get to stay at Marriotts on all of our (non-Disney) family vacations for free and in style!

I like Hampton Inn for the price. Never stayed in a bad one. They have the 100% satisfaction gaurantee also.

I really have no favorite. My only requirements are that they are CLEAN, up to date with the furnishings, and the employee's friendly and helpful. Customer service MUST be a priority. I enjoy a hotel that serves a nice, quick breakfast that doesn't charge and arm and a leg. I think if you hit all those marks you really can't go wrong. We just stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on Kent Island in Maryland. It was a very nice hotel, friendly employee's, good b-fast but alittle overpriced. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Suites on 17th Street in Ocean City Maryland the end of July. It is rated as the #1 hotel there by tripadvisor.com. LOTS of great reviews. I can't wait to stay and see if it is all that!!!!

I'm partial to Best Western, myself. DH stayed at Holiday Inns when he worked at his last company almost exclusivley and thought most of them were okay.

How about a Hampton Inn? Those are very popular with my companies business travelers. Economical but still very nice and a great free breakfast!

As for a restaurant nextdoor, I'd am for one that would attract a broad range of people, especially if it's going to be the only nearby place to eat. Friday's, Benigans, Applebees, Chili's. A breakfast place would do great too, if they went with a chain that doesn't offer much in free breakfast. IHOP or Denney's would be ideal for that.
