What hidden cost am I missing?

We have a trip currently booked for Oct 13-17. There is a large group of us going. We are thinking of trying for MNSSHP that first night (if the dates stay) I have 2 small children and am a stay at home mom.

MY question is what are any hidden costs in going down a day early? I have checked the flight prices and they are the same for both wed and thursday. We have the points needed for a studio (which is all I would need). I am not thrilled with the idea of traveling with my children by myself but getting down there a day early and letting them rest and relax before MNSSHP is well worth it in my mind and then when my DH and sister and friends come down the next day they could bring the main luggage needed. Is this something you would consider doing or am I missing a lot of hidden costs? (yes I understand we would need food)

Have you checked room availability? That time of year is popular. I would check that first before spending any time thinking about it.

You can add a day to MYW tickets very cheap.

If you just plan on staying at the hotel and resting, the only cost I can see is for food. Stay out of the stores or that will add up.:confused3

There is certainly enough to do at any of the resorts that a "down" day hanging at the resort/pool/etc. would be fine. No extra costs for any of that. Also if you show your DVC member card, I think you can also borrow a free DVD from the gift shop, so you could even do an early movie night in your room.

I agree going down a day early to give the kids a rest is a great idea. I can't see trying to hit a party with young kids on day of arrival.

Are you using ME when you land? Won't it be easiest to have all the luggage tagged and it would end up at your room? This way if you are there early you can unpack and get settled before everyone gets there. Also I would hate to forget that you packed the bathing suites in another bag.

Are you getting dining plan? Because if you add a day to your trip I think dining would be added for everyone on the reservation.

Thanks for the responses. No I haven't checked availablity but even if I would have to switch resorts I still think it would be benifical and I would think/hope that somewhere in WDW there would be one studio for one wednesday, and I would book the room before booking the air.

Yes we would use magical express but since we are in a 2 bedroom for most of the trip I wouldnt be able to unpack anyway so I would just bring down a carry on with enough stuff for one day (including swim suits!!)

You have all inspired me to head down early (if available) I am still trying to see if anyone else in the group could possible come with me because the thought of dragging a 5 year old and a 2 year old around the airport is :scared1:

Thanks!!
