What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

We arrived on Wed 10/29 around 1130 and got a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee - saw 1 PT cruiser, several regals, and a few tauruses. They had several cars that had just come in but I don't remember what they were.

arrived last saturday night....

lots of grand prix s on the A side no SUV's...probably about 20 cars total at 8:30 pm...

went to the B side and found a couple of Toyota Rav 4 and about 5 other cars one being a grand prix....

we took a rav....since we had five of us with luggage ( was able to get it all in both on the trip to and from the airport even though the expandable luggaged people had "expanded" )

today on the return to side A they had three chevy Blazers and one van not sure what type....plus a lot of grand prixs again...and other intermediate cars......even a truck...not sure if it was part of the aisle but it sure was parked there ( never seen a truck before )

this was a 9:00 am this morning...

so it varies all the time......if you do not see what you want on A side, it does not hurt to check the B side.....

Got there 11/1 about 10:30am - no SUVs or anything unusual, but lots of full size to choose from. We took a Grand Prix and were happy with it - nice big trunk like my Intrepid at home.

I was tickled with this first trip to Emerald Aisle - not only did we get our pick of larger cars for an intermediate rate (minus Carlson code and Entertainment coupon!) but we were out of there sooo fast bypassing the desk!

hey lawgs - told you I'd leave you something good on the B side EA on 11/1! :p I hope you had a great trip!!

Arrived at 6pm 11/1 and the B side aisle was pretty full - mostly with Buick skylarks. I was about to take a white Grand Prix when I spotted a reddish Mitsubishi Outlander, so I snagged it! Even though we have a Ford Escape at home, the Outlander was fun to drive & we were thrilled w/it.

After returning my rental around 5pm today the B side EA had mostly intermediates but there were 4 Blazers!

Noel, I don't think they make the skylark anymore. They have the Regal, Century. LeSabre and Park Avenue for their cars.

oops - you're right Gail.
They were all Buick Regals, which is what we had on our trip in 2002 - a nice car, but I was really happy with the Outlander.
:D

Could someone please refresh the new details of EA with National. Last time we booked a full out of fear the lot would be empty. Now the intermediates are EA? Just one lot or what is this "B" lot? We will be coming in on Delta at midnight this Sat. Anyone notice any adverse changes since merging w/Alamo? I booked Alamo yesterday then read that bad post and cancelled and booked National even though it was higher just because we love National, it's worth their service and convenience. Hope that hasn't changed!

EA service is for intermediate rentals only. If there is something larger there, you can take it.
The A and B lot are the sides that you come in on. Nothing really to concern yourself about, both sides work the same way. Alamo is fine, they share cars and space with National. It is not a merge, btw, they are still sister companies and always have been.
I will caution you to bring a print out of your reservation with the confirmation number, dates and price highlighted for the attendants at the check out booth to read. A few others (including me) have run into a snag here and there with attendants that are not very well trained. All worked out in the end, and, oddly enough, it was an Alamo employee that fixed it for us. It was not a big deal in the end and it certainly has not stopped me from renting from National.

noel ....something interesting about the rental we had off the EA when i went to rental history on the national car website...

Model: RAV 4
License #: V49VDZ

Vehicle Class Driven: Economy 4-Wheel Drive Auto A/C

Vehicle Class Charged: Intermediate 2/4 Door Car Auto A/C

not that i mind since we needed something for the luggage....but it looks like they have done the reverse thingy now and are putting economy cars on the Aisle for the intermediate cost..

but then again do not know how one would reserve an economy 4 wheel since there is no listing under car types of this vehicle...

also checked our may rental when we had the outlander

Model: OUTLANDER XLS 2WD
License #: V59TIW

Vehicle Class Driven: Standard Recreational Auto A/C

Vehicle Class Charged: Full Size 2/4 Door Car Auto A/C

so do not know what to make of the classifications.....

all in all did enjoy driving both...

Does anyone know if the Emerald Club fee is still being waived for renters going to WDW? I joined a couple years ago because my company paid for it. Now I'm trying to help my neighbor plan their WDW trip and extolling the virtues of National EA service. :) How can my neighbor join the Emerald Club with this WDW offer?

On Sat, Nov 1 @ 6:30 PM the aisle was almost entirely Buick Centurys. There was one RAV4, a couple Grand AMs and a very few others. Over 20 Centurys. No minivans or big SUVs, as I recall.

We arrived 10/23 around 10:30 pm. We had reserved full size emerald reserve. Most were the Buick Century's although I think there was a just a couple other makes, but nothing that stood out for me - (Maybe a toyota?) . HOWEVER on the Emerald Aisle, there were 4-5 PT Cruisers and 2-3 Extend cab Pickups! There was also a Buick Lesabre which we took (I asked the guy in the booth at the aisle if we could pick from the Aisle instead of the reserve and he said take whatever you want. ) The rest of the family really wanted the PT Cruiser, but the Lesabre looked much bigger. I must say though, it was probably the most stripped down Lesabre I've ever seen. Didn't even have a clicker for the keys! Ran well and had lots of room though.

I visited the aisle on 11/6 to pick my car about 8 pm in the evening. There were slim pickings in terminal A, but what was there were a few full size cars, a Mitsubishi SUV, and the Buick Rendevouz SUV that I took (too much luggage!).

On my return 11/17 around 9 am, the aisle was loaded with a wide variety of cars, including several full-size vehicles. There was also a bright yellow Toyota or Nissan pickup, a PT Cruiser, and a Toyota RAV4. Lots of great choices! Might be the best emerald aisle selection I've seen....

Arrived terminal B at 10:30 pm and there was nothing ... nada ... in the entire GARAGE -- not just the EA. The only thing we could take in the whole GARAGE was a 10+ pax van. We were not about to take one of those monsters. So we waited and someone came up with a Olds Alero. We took it because we did not want to wait around any longer. Note, we were one of the last people to book the EA when full size was the guaranteed car size on the EA. We took the Alero which was smaller just as a matter of convenience. In retrospect, I wish I had waited. One of the national employees asked if I wanted a mini van and said they would bring one. However, when we left I still never saw one.

Earlier that same day, around 1:30 pm terminal B, my parents got a Chevy Suburban, because there were no intermediates available. Then in the evening around 5 pm, my brother got a minivan also in terminal B.

We just got back from a long weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary. I told dh that he might possibly get to rent his dream car - a PT Cruiser - since we joined the Emerald Club, but there were no guarantees. Well, we get to the aisle and WOW - there it was - a silver PT! We scurry over and a women runs over -- "I already got it" and she did have the key. BUMMER! DH acted ok about it, but I knew he was disappointed :(. There was an Aztec, but I really wanted for him to drive his dream car. I walked back to the counter at the garage and talked to Rob (great guy). I asked if there were going to be any other PT Cruisers out - that my dh was really hoping to drive one and that we JUST missed one. I never mentioned our anniversary and I knew they didn't have to do anything - that we should just get the intermediate. Well, Rob was great! He said just a minute and he went and spoke to someone and said "I'll be right back." He drove up with a touring edition blue PT Cruiser!! He even loaded our luggage!! Now - that was great customer service :bounce:
Even better - returned the car today and the total for 4 days including all taxes and fees using the Carlson Wagonlit code was $109.00. We had no problems what-so-ever.
We will definately keep renting from National!!
