We're about to book our flights, but the prices are scary! As much for Virgin Economy as we normally pay for PE  . The joys of going during school holidays, I guess.

Has anyone got any decent deals?

We found that too Deb so we're biting the bullet and taking DS out of school for 2 weeks in september, the whole deal came to the same price as economy flight only and we're getting to go premium!

We are flying with My Travel, premium gold and it cost us £495 each, quite good I thought for Premium. We leave on the 28th October from Manchester. :goodvibes

We booked up in August 2005 for October 2006 and are paying £599 an adult with BA holidays (extra for the car). There is seven of us and I was just glad to get a seat!!! We either wanted virgin or BA

Can you still get flights for October? The flights I wanted with Virgin Holidays were sold out at the time. I know they release more at 11 months with VA but did not want to wait.

We fly on 12th October. Next year when it is just the three of us maybe we will leave it later.

can't wait to get there. Seems to be taking ages!

This is making me depressed, in August we are paying £899 adult price. :(

Our kids go back to school on Monday 30th October. Is this why it may be cheaper? What are other people's flight prices for a week or two earlier?

I really do not mind paying more I am always pleased to get the flight date I want. We all agreed we wanted to fly in at Orlando airport and have seat back tvs so we knew we would have to pay for this.

Thanks for this interesting thread.

Just thought I'd take a look at the Flywho website - they are selling seats for £548 for departures on 21st or 28th Oct. That's for their Silver Class - which should be a similar standard to Virgin PE.

We paid Adult 474 Child 304 flying out 11/10/06 and returning 02/11/06.

We booked at the beginning of November I think, before the returning flight went on sale with VA.

All the cheap seats for the week after had sold out, that's why we had to go back to an earlier week.

I did want a Thursday flight, but they were another £100 each for us, so we are flying out on a Wendnesday.

Please don't be down about the prices. We really would like to go next year in for the last two weeks in August but my boss will not let me book anything until she books her holiday which is usually around the January before and we just don't like to wait. (especially when we have a large group of us all wanting the same flight) When we go in October we still have to take our DD out of school (this year seven days out of school including the week of half term). I believe your DW works at a school and has no choice but at least you know for definate when you can book. We have a very small team of 2 and a half and we are all women with school age children. The arguments and fights we have over taking time off for our holidays spoils our working relationship which we have to endure for such a lot of our waking hours!!

Hope you have a great time when you in August and we will be thinking of you.

Here in South Wales our half term doesnt begin until October 30th, so Im lucky that it appears that because Im flying out of England and the schools may have already gone back that could be why my flight is fairly cheap.

We paid £1600 in total (2 adults, 2 kids) for Virgin economy
departing on 25th Sep, returning 15th Oct.
If I had gona at the beginning of September it was about £1200.
Just for booking nearby a school hol, they put price up sooo much, Have a look for beginning of July prices for instance.

Haven't booked yet but got price of £337 each with Delta via Atlanta 7th to 21st on Travelocity for two adults two children. Still holding out though :scared: Had it all booked by Jan last year, but the "old dutch" has given me permission to wait.

Thanks for taking the time to write Susan, the main reason for our frustration this year was that we actually had a holiday booked in April that was £499 adult price, whilst we could have taken Joshua out of school it's really difficult for Julie as being a teacher she gets so much time off anyway.

We ultimatley decided to change our dates, we went last August too and had a great time...we are actually going for 3 weeks so naturally we are looking forward to it.
Thanks again and best wishes for your October holiday. ;)

Yes I never realised that all the school holidays differ slightly, quite often Joshua and Julie are off on different days too even though both schools are just a couple of miles apart.

It's nice that you both remember things from my previous posts like my wife being a teacher.

Just thought I'd update this thread to say that we managed to get PE Companion flights for £1043 (i.e. £570 each) including taxes. So much better than the £700+ we were looking at for Economy - I just couldn't bring myself to do it, especially when we haven't paid more than £650 for PE for quite some time. It's cost us 30,000 miles, but there's not much point accumulating them if we're not going to take advantage of them.

A wise move Deb, that's a good price.

We are paying £2048 for 2 adults/ 3 children full size car and prebooked seats flying from Glasgow on 2nd October for 2 weeks.
Really lucky as this is our schools holiday fortnight. Booked in April last year when we came back from Florida. Hadn't even paid Visa bill!!

We'll be there October 18 - November 5.

Whereas their poor travelling partners (us) will be there 2 days after and returning 2 days before. :(

They may have to drag me onto the return flight. I'll be hanging on to Deb's leg begging her not to make me go.
Mind you, I can't blame them for booking PE at that price.
