It has been a really cool August here in New England. I was just wondering what the weather has been like in Orlando. :sunny: :cold: :umbrella: We will be there in less than a month (the first week of October) and was wondering what to expect. Thanks!!

Last week it was hot and humid with the typical Florida mid and late day thunderstorms. Tropical Storm/Depression Ernesto was just some rain.

Don't have any idea what October will bring, though.

Hot and humid.

Yep, with emphasis on HUMID! My DD 22 months got a mild case of dehydration on Wednesday night due to how bad it was. We thought we were keeping her well hydrated, however it appears we didn't give her enough water. I felt so bad for her and it kinda scared us. Just make sure to drink plenty of water while you're there. It would be nice to buy a case or two of water if you have access to a rental car and can visit a local grocery/convenience store. The price of water at the parks and on-property is astronomical.

Sorry to hear about your DD. We were there last week and it was very hot and we drank a lot of water. An alternative to purchasing bottled water is to bring along an insulated water bottle. We bought two (24 ounces each) at REI ($9 per, but they paid for themselves very quickly) - here's the link:

Last trip I brought along Brita Fill N Go bottles, but nobody wanted to drink from them because they got warm quickly. The same would be true for bottled water not purchased at the parks. I know people complain about the taste of WDW water, but my family (and I have two very picky kids) didn't notice/complain this time because the water stayed so cold. As has been mentioned on the DIS before, you can go to any counter service restaurant in WDW and ask for a cup of ice, and they'll give it to you for free. (And if you go to Seasons in Epcot, you can get it yourself from the self-service drink machines.) Then you can go to any drinking fountain (or bubbler, as they say up here in NE) and fill up. We did that and kept ourselves well-supplied with cold, refreshing water.

We just returned and it was in the low 90's each day, humid, and with a rain storm just about every afternoon or early evening.
