What has happened to Mousekeeping ?????

We have never had a problem with Mousekeeping. We usually stay at the Caribbean Beach, although we have been to a few others. We make sure we put the "Please Clean" or whatever it says, sign out on the door handle and make sure we tip each day. Usually $5.00 per day per room and we usually have 2 connecting rooms. It is always clean with little washcloth animals around and linens changed a few times a week. :earsboy:

Hi there,
In the many trips we have taken to WDW, staying in moderate, deluxe, and DVC accomodations, I can honestly say we have never had a problem with cleanliness. Makes me wonder if I am a slob;) I guess clean is a relative term.

We have had many trips the WDW and were pleased with housekeeping . The only time I complained was when we returned to our room at the Beach Club and it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke- I suspect the housekeeper chose to hve a cigarette break in our room while doing turn down service.

We haven't either, until this last trip! I guess I want a hotel room w/o bugs and w/o the previous guest's fruit loop on the floor! And, maybe the mirrors wiped down a few times during a one week stay! :)

goofy4tink - I have to agree with everything you have said. We are very neat and tidy when traveling, as another poster put it, "so we don't lose anything." My expectations are that when I check in, the room be fresh and clean, and smell that way. I want the floors to have been swept, the bathrooms and vanity to be sparkling clean.

During our stay, I like to have the room freshened up, plenty of clean towels, and the toilet area especially clean. If there is lint on the carpet, no biggie. It's not even really necessary that they make the beds, but I confess, I do love it when we come back to the room and our beds are nicely made-up! This is a little thing, but something that makes me feel good. I would not complain if it were not done. In fact, the only complaint I have ever made concerned the hairs in my sheets on our first night!! (Small black hairs, lots of them, embedded all through the sheets!EWWW!)

I guess when I pay $65/night for a motel, and there is dirt on the floor, or a dead bug in the bathroom, etc. I tend to think "Well, you get what you pay for!" But when I pay $200-$300/night for a nice resort, I'm thinking "I expect better.":wave2:

Although I may be "asking" for it - I, too, am typically a neat traveller. I figure that although I am a paying guest, I don't want to add too strenuously to the workload. I pick up after myself and even check the box that says I'll reuse my towels. After all, it's usually only me travelling.

With re: to the Contemporary, I do object to finding petrified old food on the floor - I am led to believe that NO vacuuming was done at all - which for health reasons, is objectionable. As for the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling - we're not talking about the corners, we're talking all over the ceiling 10 to 16 incles long that would periodically fall onto me as I slept and caused a host of asthmatic problems. True, most people do not have asthma (I wish I was one of them). But to have Dis personnel completely ignore my requests for 3 days is pathetic. I expect no more and certainly, no less, from Disney resorts than I would any hotel I stay at. It has been said, over and over, that Disney holds itself to a higher standard. Although Walt's beliefs may have faded recently, for the most part they do a good job. When they do slip up, they need to be more attuned to guests comments.

Well put, MMausse. I think they DO get it right most of the time -- the majority of the time. But when someone calls with a problem and they ignore it, that's NOT allright. It's this that makes me think they may be overwhelmed and understaffed...

mmausse - I agree - your concerns should have been dealt with swiftly and courteously. I hope my post did not sound like I thought that anyone who complains is "nitpicking." I was simply trying to respond to goofy4tink when asked what our "perfect scenario" might be. I also have severe asthma, and believe me when I say, I would also complain if the room was so covered with dust it caused breathing problems. The comment about the smoke from upstairs really resonates with me, I feel your pain!!

REVAMPED THE QUOTE cause it was long but I agree

why should disney be held to *lower* standards than any other hotel? who would stay at a marriot or hilton under the above conditions , much less pay in the neighborhood of $200 to do so. we have had good to excellent housekeeping but just cause it is on property I thinkI should get the same thing any other hotel would provide and not be ignored if something is wrong. I do not care if the room is $39.00, it should still be clean which means no hair ( or worse) clean linens no dust or cobwebs just basic standards of cleanliness.
I do think since disney has a"captive" audience, they make a show of taking care of compaints but often don't really do anything about it. a phone call from a nice CM doesn't really change the hrs of time spent trying to get your ressies right or not being able to get a clean room . that has always been my experince if I have a problem with disney, not really any solution, just a nice cm acting as a bandaid.
