What has Disney removed that makes you the saddest?

One word.....GREED!!! Why keep long-term entertainers employed?? Brian for example was there for years, and I'm sure he was getting paid well. Why not replace him with a new, less talented person who they can pay a minimum salary. People will still flock to the Boardwalk, resorts, and parks anyways! Same thing goes for PUSH.
I think that is sad and in the long run degrades the product and hurts the overall feeling of joy and magic that WDW was founded on! I will never be like that as long as I live and I will never understand profits above all else. I think there is a way to make money for shareholders and keep quality and tradition alive..unfortunately i'm a voice in the wilderness. There is NO Need to pay a company executive 10s or 100s of millions of dollars a year. Disgusting. But they have many many people in our society convinced that that is a good system to be envied and emulated and taught to our children falsely teaching them that they can be part of the one percent too! Yuk.

I sure do remember this--not the Broadway at the Top show (we never went to that), but before that when it was an actual "nightclub". We saw Billy Eckstine entertain on our one and only visit.

My parents went to see Barbara Eden perform at Top of the World and they hired us a "Disney babysitter". Turns out she was a young woman who, during the day, was "friends" with Alice.

The Sunday Brunch was world's apart from today's buffets. It was elegant and pricey. Much like you might find at a high end hotel today. Make your own omelets, waffles, shrimp, crab, carving stations for roasts. Disney needs a high end buffet like this once a week.

Even with the older photos, it's obvious that the Top of the World was a very posh place to be! The layout looks very cool.:thumbsup2

It must have been a TON of work, and costly to have various entertainers there all the time. Something Disney was willing to put the work into and shell out for before. :sad1: Glad you were both able to experience it.

I haven't been to California Grill at WDW yet, but by looking at the view from Top of the World photos, the views must be incredible. :goodvibes Even though CG is a signature restaurant and I'm sure the food is very good, it is still just another place to eat. Not an place to be entertained and have a hugely memorable experience like it was before.

We are soooo unhappy, and well, kind of mad that they did away with the Hyperspace Hoopla! We are not over the top Star Wars fans, but LOVED Dance Off with the Star Wars Stars and Snig and Oopla were some of our favorites!!! Even the years that we weren't there in person we'd look it up on You Tube just to watch the new dances and see what songs Chewbacca was dancing to. We even considered "Bring Back the Hoopla" t-shirts for our trip next week. Really going to miss it this year...and more fireworks are NO substitute!!!:furious:

Yes Yes Yes!!!
We actually are very big Star Wars Fans, and I've said again and again that Hyperspace Hoopla was the MOST fun I've ever had at Disney, hands down! It was so interactive, and hilarious, and the music was fun, and everyone was singing and dancing - just a great time! I was so beyond disappointed that they canceled it this year.

Bring Back the Hoopla, Disney!

I know it will come to shock, given my screen name and my profile picture, but...Horizons. :worried:

I miss it every day.

Alien Encounter

River Country

The original Test Track

MGM studios back when there was no sorcerer hat

The old days when the merchandise was less generic.

Horizons. That glimpse of the "future" was a childhood favorite.

The ability to go without time based planning. It's harder now to just wander around and take it as you go. It's all go go go now and I enjoy sometimes just taking it slow and enjoying being there.

Missing:
Impeccable cleanliness (staff cutbacks are showing esp in the washrooms)
Legacy FP
Lower crowds
Lower prices on rooms and tix
DP including appy and tip
Great, interesting menu items
Spectro

Though I am sad the original MS bakery is gone, I do LOVE being able to enjoy a SB at WDW!!

Interesting menu items can be had at Brown Derby, quite possibly the best meal I have EVER had, certainly the most memorable. Course, it does require some $ but we found it was a spectacular value (especially with $104 in rewards to take off the meal.) I can't even describe my entree hardly! All I know is that it was the duck and had incredible yucca stuffed with more duck. Also Raglan Road has a delightful quinoa salad! Also for Pizza Planet, we had fresh Gluten Free veggi organic pizza that really hit the spot! Oh yeah, the new Urban Farm stand had a beet and goat cheese salad (what what!), a sauteed eggplant in the shape of a scallop (vegetarian option I assume but still tasty!) with a side of spaghetti squash, fresh grilled tilapia on slaw AND GF beer that was great! So basically I have absolutely nothing but tremendous praise for the best amusement park food (and maybe FOOD, period!) that I have ever had!!!

Woohoo Disney! We GF people ate like Queens!

One of the changes that has actually been a plus!

I know it will come to shock, given my screen name and my profile picture, but...Horizons. :worried:

I miss it every day.
I'm with you there. I've said many times that I wish that they would at least bring back the concept of Horizons but they seem to have forgotten it. :sad2:

So many things it's hard to think of all of them. Some I'd forgotten about until I saw other replies.

River Country--first waterpark I ever tried
Adventurers Club--So unique and way better than going to a bar or nightclub
Aunt Polly's
Mr. Toad
Original Imagination attraction
Body Wars
Skyway
Nestle Junior Chef
Tarzan Rocks
Legacy FP

And of course, the saddest thing Disney has removed is: my money.

The clicking in Small World.
The cinnamon rolls at Main Street Bakery with extra icing.
The original Test Track.
When Liberty Tree Tavern was a Chip and Dale dining experience.
When no one went to Animal Kingdom.

KTTK cards.

I like the MB but I miss the printed card with my name and resort and dates. They made a good memento.

The quirky things like purple ketchup at Cosmic Rays.

Mickey and Minnies house!!!

Good merchandise and selection in Christmas store.

Resort specific mugs.

Characters at LTT.

What has Disney removed that makes me the saddest?

The restrictions on FP+.

I do miss our FP+ arguments. ;)

I agree with most everything everyone has previously stated. Esp Tapestry, Main Street Bakery,Adventurer's Club, Alien Encounter, and Toontown!

I also miss the little things like waking up Tink, the paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer Island, and things like the singing in the rain umbrella hardly ever working anymore
