Hi all,

We are currently have booked a two week stay with our DVC. All nights but 1 is at Kidani. The Sunday in the middle of our trip has no availability for DVC so we are booked for that 1 night at Jambo. We are waitlisted for that one night. We have called and cannot get the one night with cash through member services but when we look online we can see that we can book it. If we did book through the disney site would they be able to link all our reservations and then we would not have to change rooms? Is there any reason why we can book it but can't do it through member services?

Thanks!

DVC villas are allocated for cash reservations when owners trade out to non-DVC destinations like Disney Cruise Line, non-DVD hotels, etc. It goes something like this:

- Member uses points to book a cruise.
- DVC villa(s) equal to that number of points are set aside for cash reservations.
- Cash received for cash villa bookings is used to compensate DCL for the cruise reservation.

There are other scenarios under which villas are made available for cash but that's the most common.

If you book a room with cash, there is no way to guarantee that you won't have to move. But the front desk will usually attempt to accommodate. I would discuss with them upon arrival and probably again the night before the scheduled move.

Worst case, bell services can store all of your belongings (including food which may have to be refrigerated or frozen) before you can check into the next villa.

Cash and Points are two separate inventories. Cash rooms become available in one of several ways:

1. DVD (The Developer) retains ownership of a small portion of points at each resort and has the right (like any other owner) to rent those as cash rooms if they so chose.

2. When members use their points outside of the DVC system for a Disney Collection, Adventurer Collection or Concierge Collection Reservation, those points are converted to cash rooms to cover the cash reimbursement of the reservation. These reservations CAN NOT be pulled back for points reservations as they already are reserved on points.

3. Unreserved rooms at 60 days from arrival are turned over for cash. These can be pulled back subject to CRO approval for points reservations. But they are much less common than the other 2 situations.

Even though that 1 night is available, it's likely not your room. With locations limited and guest stays beginning and ending on various days of the week it's a scheduling puzzle. As I'm sure you're aware after your one night in Jambo, you will not return to Kidani and get your original room. This has been assigned for that night plus a few more likely. Keeping you in that same room for length of stay has ripple effects across other reservations already booked

I believe OP's question was related to paying cash for the Kidani room through CRO. All nights would then be at Kidani--presumably in the same room size and view.

If that's the case, you can request to stay in same physical unit but there are no guarantees. And multiple check-ins (visits to front desk) will be required. Disney cannot transition a room (or guest) from points-to-cash-to-points seamlessly.

Yes, its same room & same view. We are 60 plus days out. It sounds like we can book the room but we need to cancel our Jamba House reservation and we can book the room through the regular Disney reservation system and tell them it is a continuation and then phone DVC and tell them it is a continuation and then we can stay in the same room our entire stay. We would keep our waitlist in hopes that it comes up and can cancel our cash night.

If it's the same EXACT unit type and view, reserve for cash and I'm sure you're already wait listed. Make sure you're WL goes to 7 days out. Then stalk the online site to reserve it if it becomes available. Don't forget to cancel your WL if you get it yourself. As you get closer, let MS know what's happening.
