What happens when your AP is up for renewal?

DO you get something in the mail ....in other words, if you are not at WDW - who do you pay for renewal?

Also, when must you renew? Do you have a certain amount of time or must you renew the day after expiration of the original AP?

Disney does send out letters to let you know your pass is about to expire and to remind you about the "discount" (over buying a new pass) if you renew. However, I've found that the letter doesn't always arrive or arrive on time. Officially, you are supposed to renew before your pass actually expires to get the renewal discount.

Usually you have 30 days from the expiration date to renew at the discounted rate. However, the renewed pass will be activated and the year starts on the day after your old pass expired. So unless you are going to WDW within that time, it may not be worth it to renew your pass.
