What happens when they close a park 6 hours early?

I mistakenly wrote up an itinerary for friends which sends them to Epcot this Thursday. They are late sleepers and won't get there until noon. Do they tell guests as they come in and give them a chance to go elsewhere, or do they compensate in some manner? They are offsite and wouldn't know about this ahead of time.

Thanks for any info!

The hours are usually posted on the way into the park, also, if they ride the tram, if there is going to be an early closing, the tram drivers are pretty good at announcing that type of information.

If your friends have hopper passes, they can hop to MGM until it closes (usually about 7:30 or 8), or just plan dinner that night at one of the resorts or Downtown Disney.

Just because they enter the park, doesn't mean they have to stay there all day.... that is the beauty of a hopper pass... stay a couple of hours and go somewhere else.

As for compensation for when the park closes early for a press event, no, that will not be offered.... park hours are subject to change, and that information is printed on all park literature, and tickets.

Jesse I do believe that all WDW schedules state "subject to change". With that being said, I am sure that your friends will not received any compensation. If they purchase tickets at the ticket window at the park they will see the operating hours for the day and then it will be up to them on wether to purchase the tickets or not. If they are using hoppers, they can still go to any other of the three parks for the rest of the night. Either way I am sure your friends will have a great time.

What time is Epcot closing on Thru? Is it a special event closing Epcot early? Hopefully your friends have hoppers and can just switch parks.

I think in the past when they have closed early for private parties they have allowed park hopping with a 1 day pass to go elsewhere.

Thanks!

Epcot closes at 3pm for a media event for Mission Space. My friends have one day passes for Epcot. I just thought it would be a shame to only have 3 hours of park time. If they can use the pass at another park that's great, but I wished I had called them to let them know before they left. Oh well. :)

Could you call their resort and leave them a message? That way they could make a decision and possibly change their plans to go to Epcot tomorrow instead. Just a thought.

Even though you bought the one day ticket at Epcot, you can go to any park to start using it.

"Rain checks" have been given in the past for unexpected early park closings. These have generally been in the form of a new one day ticket. As far as scheduled early park closings go, check the posted hours before going in.

If you drove to a park but decide to go to another park because of an early closing, you should drive to the other park. Although the exact circumstances may vary, monorails and/or buses back to it generally stop running an hour or so after the park closes.

well there are signs up wed. saying epcot will be closing at 3 pm on thursday and I know they were making it clear that the MK would close at 6pm tonight on the trams monorails and busses. they may annouce this change on the offsite shuttle busses too.
