What happens if you skip a fastpass ride you have selected?

I'm sorry if this has already been asked but, say we have 3 fastpasses already but do not make it to one that we have scheduled, will it automatically be removed from our MB?
I have read that to get the next FP to work you have to go scan your band to get rid of the one you skipped.
We are basically just going to HS to ride the RNRC and want to ride the Great Movie ride.
We are not really interested in any of the tier 2 rides except maybe Star Tours.
So we were hoping we could use 3 FP and then find a FP for the GMR but are not sure when we will arrive to make first FP and thought we could just let the first one pass then go for Star Tours and RNRC. Then look for a GMR FP.
I know there may not be any available for the GMR and if not we will just ride standby.

I think it just counts as used if the time passes?
I went to DHS a year or so ago and despite having a FP for Disney Junior, it wasn't needed, we just walked right in and never scanned it.
We then used our Fast Passes for TSMM and then Star Tours. So by lunch all of our Fast Passes were done.

What I seemed to be able to do was just change that unused FastPass to something else. In the afternoon, I could just change it to any FP (even another Tier 1). I grabbed one for RnR later that night.

Not sure if that is how it officialy works, but that is how it worked for me.

Ok good so if we use the tier 1 FP for RNRC then we can change one of the tier 2 FP for a tier 1 if we do not skip any fastpasses that is? That would be great.

You can't change a Tier 2 to a Tier 1.

You must use, allow to fully expire, or tap at the touchpoint, before you book your 4th FP of the day via the app.

Book that 1st FP for early in the morning so it fully expires before you arrive. Then use your remaining 2 FPs and book #4 while you are in the FP line for #3.

Ok thank you for clearing that up.
