Hi! We're going to Universal for the first time at the end of May and staying at the Royal Pacific. Our DD(8) and DS(6) are really excited especially after explaining about FOTL. I know they're going to ask to hold on to the pass but we're afraid they may lose them. What happens if the pass is lost? I'm assuming that the RPR will issue new ones and disable the lost ones. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Dis. The passes are actually room keys (credit cards). I suggest you hang on to them for the little ones.

I don't even let my 16 y.o. hold his own pass other than to show the ride op.

The first thing I do when we register at the Hotel is to have our GK's cards changed so they cannot charge anything. There is no room number on the cards, so if someone found a lost card the room location would be next to imposible to find. I'm sure if someone in the hotels were trying every door someone would report it. Then I give each one a card holder which goes around their necks and let them have the cards, makes them feel grown-up. If a card is lost, which has never happened to the kids I simply would have the front desk issue a new card and deactivate the old one. Now my husband on the other hand has lost his card with charging on the Disney ship, card was turned in and nothing was charged, guess we had the Magic that day.

I never let my twins hold on to their own cards. I bought an ID holder at Walmart for about $1 (found it in the jewelry dept). I didn't like the strap it had on it-had velcro-so I bought a lanyard at Dollar General for $2 (I think) and attached the ID holder to the lanyard. I let my kids take turns handing the cards to the employee at the entrance to FOTL, but they know they have to give them back asap.

Come to think of it, I don't even let DH hold his own pass or AP!!!

We lost a key once, it was easy to get it replaced at the hotels front desk. It was a kids key and didnt have charging privileges. From that trip on, I'm the holder of the keys and the passes and anything else valuable/important for that matter!
