What happens if you bring an extra person to a reservation? 5 vs 6 people

We are thinking of flying my mom in for a few days during our 11 day stay. She would only be able to come for 3 days. It is during Christmas and we don't want her to be alone. I called and they said that the table will be a 6 person table anyways so not to worry about it. I thought that was weird? We would just pay for her OOP on the few restaurants we would be doing. We have the table reserved for 5 already. Thoughts????

Some of our ADRs for 5 people note that we may be seated at separate tables (hmm... 9 yo, 6 yo and 8 mo old, I'm good with that! :cool1: ). So, as long as they have you not being split you should be fine.

Are you serious???? I booked all mine over the phone and she didn't say anything about that. Mine are 8, 5 and 1 - that would be interesting too - HAHA

It is pretty rare that a party of 6 is separated. It happens but not often and usually not with kids. The disclaimer is more CYA then anything in case they have to do it. A table of 6 adults is much more likely to get separated then a table with children also.

I don't think it will be a problem because of the table sizes. If you were going from 4 to 5 or 6 to 7 you might have issues since usually those leaps require an increase in table size but since most parties of 5 are seated at a 6 person table I would say it won't be an issue.

I know!! About 1/2 the ones I've reserved online had that noted. I figure when we show up there's no way they'll separate us - especially if I say I'm dining with DH!

My mom added my uncle on at the last minute for my graduation trip and we didn't have any problems at any restaurants. She just told the host/hostess when checking in at the podium that we had an extra person.

OP - You shouldn't have an issue at all, as already pointed out by others.

PP is right about it being typical Disney legalize wording. The split parties has already been on reservations for ONE!! I guess you eat half the meal at one table, and then move over to the other table to finish up :confused3 ;)

I'm with the PPs who wouldn't mind splitting off from their kids for a few meals. :rotfl2:
