Hi, I've been messaging with someone about sharing a bigger table at a restaurant because smaller tables aren't available.
This makes me a little nervous...what if they don't show up? it's 4 of us, and 2 of them... will we get turned away?? Will we have to pay for the other 2? The ressie is under my name.. :confused3

thanks for your help!!

It depends. What restaurant? Did you have to put a credit card guarantee down?

chef mickeys, and yes...i gave cc.

this is the only way to get into CM that night...but what if they change their mind?? ugh!!

No you should be fine if only 2 of the 4 people show up. As long as some of the party comes you will be fine. I have booked 4 people at Ohana one time and only 2 of us could make it. We were not charged for the other to.

As the PP said, you'll be okay as long as someone shows up for the reservation. The "no show" fee is only applied if no one from the reservation shows up. When you get the podium, just tell the CM how many people are in your group (i.e., 4 or 6, depending on whether the other group joins you or not) so they can seat you at an appropriately sized table. They won't treat you as a walk-up or charge you for the people that aren't there. Like the PP, I've had reservations for 4 before and only 3 showed up and it wasn't a problem.

The caveat is that I don't know how this works at the pre-pay places (like CRT) or the dinner shows (like HDDR). Those might have different rules than the ones that just hold the credit card as a guarantee (but don't actually charge anything until you are a "no show").

Im lost here.. are you saying that you would be treated differently if you are a walkup to that who has done ressies??
I am going to be doing DD for the first time in May.. cant figure out where to make reservations.. and am getting rather frustrated at it all so was hoping to "wing-it" but if Im going to be treated differently then .. hmmm Ill have to think a bit more

You won't be treated differently as a walk up, but you may or may not be able to get a table.

I *think* what the OP meant about being treated as a walk up is that she was afraid if all 4 didn't show up, the ADR would be cancelled and she would essentially trying to walk up without an ADR.

The PP is correct. I was responding to the OPs concern that they would treated as walk-ups if they showed up with fewer people than their ADR was for.

If you can plan at all, make some choices based on what you read here. It is difficult to walk in to the better restaurants. The exception to this is if you want to spend most of the time doing attractions and do not want to stop for a nice meal. We like the chance to slow down, talk and laugh during the day sometime. We like 9:00 pm reservations if we can get them too.

Thanks for the heads up.. I actually bit the bullet and called.. lol. I was trying to see if the Wishes was opened up yet for May 19-22 but not yet. Will try that next week again. I did however get CM booked for Monday 5/20 @ 8:50pm. Is having CM that late at night ok? It will work for us.. (4 adults). Also booked for the Fantasmic at Hollywood and Vine for 7pm Sunday 5/19. Hope to try and change that to Mommas instead.. will try again to see if a cancellation to change.
