My group keeps growing as people are making last minute decisions to join us on vacation. We have a ressie at San Angel Inn for 8 people but now there may be 9. What happens if we just show up and have an extra person? Anyone have any firsthand experience with this?

Thanks!

The restaurant has discretion as to whether to seat you as a party of 9 or not.

They may accomodate you they may not.It depends on how crowded the resturant is.If it s free dining time, you may be out of luck.If it is during the F&W festival at Epcot, you may be out of luck.It will be up to the discretion of the podium Cm and the mgr of the restaurant.

At places I've worked, if they can squeeze you in (ie. it's not too busy) they will, but if not, you're considered a walk in party and you have to wait.

You take your chances, they may seat you if there is room, or they may treat you as a walk up and you could wait until something becomes available.

Always best to try and adjust your reservation, or tell the other people to make their own reservation.

You really should try to adjust your reservations. I know as a family of 8, we sometimes had to split up between 2 tables. Even with ADRs. with 9 people you will need either one huge table, or 2 tables of different sizes. Nine is not an easy party size to accomodate without any warning. If you just show up with extra people, you will be totally at the mercy of the CMs. And you face the real risk of not getting seated at all.

Last summer, we were on vaca, also celebrating my best friends b/day. We had dinner planned for Le Cellier. We had invited her younger sis, who works at the MK to join us, and inc her in our res. It was a very rainy afternoon, and her sis showed up w/ her boyfriend, who I was happy to treat as well, since this was a special occaision. But the hostess at LC wouldnt accept us w an extra person. To my surprise, she sent her b/f off in the rain to amuse himself while she stayed for dinner w us:lmao: At the resort that eve when they came to visit us, I felt terrible and told him it was the least I could to treat him to whatever he wanted at the food court (it was still raining, and I wasnt doing the bus etc...) He gladly accepted (poor kid was starving) :upsidedow

Thanks everybody! I'm going to try to get a new ressie for 9 just to be safe.

We made reservations for a party of 8 -- airline tickets, two rooms at the Poly, 4 different dining reservations, etc. One month before our trip, my BIL decided that he wanted to go with us to WDW. We couldn't change any of our reservations to the party of 9. However, the person we spoke to at dining told us to just show up and they should be able to accommodate us. (We had two babies, both age 2, that could sit on someone's lap.) The reservations were handled differently -- at CP, Plaza and 1900 PF, we got an extra seat; at Le Cellier, one baby had to sit on someone's lap. It all worked out for us and we had some great meals!!! :)
