What happens if I apply a discount/free dining to my reservation?

Hello all! I wanted to see if anyone has any experience in applying free dining or a room discount to their reservations which have been paid in full. Do they actually refund the difference to you or are you given a credit to use in the future?

I will be visiting the World when Free Dining normally occurs. I already purchased a dining plan at full price, and figured if Free Dining is announced and I can apply it online (it is not important enough for me to stay on the phone for hours to get it lol), I would consider adding it to save a few bucks. But then I am paranoid that if I applied it online, it would wipe out my ADR's. Is that possible?

ADRs are not tied to your reservation so making hotel reservation changes will not affect your dinning at all.

When paid in full they give a refund. We switched to a cheaper hotel after paying in full and received the refund to our card about 2 weeks later.

If you already bought the dining plan you need to call to change it. Last year we had a package only without dining and just modifies online.
