Just wondering if it's worth coming back to BWV to attend. We just happen to be staying there on a Wednesday and so it would be somewhat convenient. But I have a ADR for Chef Mick at 210 so I'd have to see if I can get an earlier lunch res in order to make it back for 4pm.

??????is it worth the effort:confused3

You will hear mixed views on this. We enjoyed it. But I wouldn't cancel any big plans to go. They give out different gifts like hats and pins to those who attend. They run it like a game show and pick people from the audeince to play. Of course all the questions are about Disney and DVC. I did get picked and was surprised how little I know in some areas. For example: since my kids are grown and gone I had no idea what the name of the children sitting service at the Poly was. But in the end they don't let anyone actually win. It ended up a three way tie and we all got the same prize. It was funny and we enjoyed talking to other members before and after. There was a fairly large turn out when we went. The only food was free popcorn and soda. So don't plan on missing a meal for it.

I agree.

They do pass out DVC ballcaps at the end, but I wouldnt structure my day around it. We were staying at BCV and just hanging out at the pool, so we took the boat over and caught the tail end of WHW and then hit the Community Hall and Pool.

as pp said, some enjoyed it, others felt it was a waste of time.

we found it "something to do" in the pouring rain, but i doubt we'll ever go again (just too boooooring when we can always find some kind of fun at the BW) :)

I'm on the "tried it once, don't ever need to do it again" side of the ledger. I didn't particularly enjoy the rigged game show format -- would have preferred an educated person sharing useful information on recent changes and things in the pipeline. An honest Q&A with the attendees would have been great.

Here's a synopsis I put together during a trip there in July. Hope it helps!

After we left Beaches and Cream we walked around to the Atlantic Dance Hall near the Boardwalk Resort. The Disney Vacation Club holds a free event there every Wednesday at 4:00PM called Welcome Home Wednesday for DVC members. This was the first time we ever attended. At 4:00PM the doors opened and we were greeted with many welcome homes. We were given 2 cards to fill out with our name for prize drawings later. When we entered the hall the atmosphere was festive. The main stage had a game show setup with a very large TV screen behind it. DVC promotional videos were shown prior to the start of the game show. Complimentary snacks and lemonade were provided. The snacks included bags of chips, popcorn, pretzels and Cracker Jacks. I was surprised by the turn-out. There were easily 150 plus in attendance. After about 15 minutes of socializing and eating some snacks the hostess of the game show was introduced. Her name is Miss Dee Vee Cee. She is the first lady of the Disney Vacation Club. She ran the game show and later would draw for the prizes for the event.

I thought this event was nice and I'm glad we did it. It's not something I will run back to; however, I'm very glad we did it once. It was well worth it since it rained the entire hour we were in the Atlantic Dance Hall. It was our way of staying dry.

Here are some photos of the event.

The DVC game show in action. The format of the game is very similar to Jeopardy with DVC questions and answers.
