I was just reading a post by SSATTERLY about her DD having been diagnosed with brain cancer. I had just read the first page and it looked like several posters were questioning her about maybe not being truthful. I clicked to go to the second page and got some kind of message I have never seen before. Something about not being authorized to read????? What happened? Did the posts get ugly and it was removed?

The post was removed.

There were inconsistencies in her story, and asking for donations is not approved on the DIS.

Doesn't help when you see stuff like this on other message boards:

Cruiser Susie Satterly Sail Date 12/4/2004
# Nights 7 Ship Carnival-Triumph

Same Susie Satterly? Could be.......

DIS Memorial fund or DIS Pay for My Cruise fund.....you make the call

I was also reading the first page of her thread and got the same message when I tried to read more. I kind of hope this is a scam and her 4 year old doesn't have cancer :worried:

The same post was also done on the resort board.

:magnify: Nice work ;)

Yikes! I wondered what was up, too. I had read the first page and wasn't able to access the second. I had no reason to doubt what she said. But, I did think it was odd that she was talking about having to cancel her DW trip that was 2 years away ( I didn't even catch that until another poster mentioned it). Especially since her daughter was so looking forward to it. I wouldn't tell my son that his DW trip was 2 years away.

ETA: I just remembered that another poster even mentioned that she thought it was odd that they diagnosed cancer with just a blood test. Hmmmmm...

As soon as she mention a Dis fund a HUGE red flag went up for me. I went back and read some of her other posts and they confimed what I was thinking. When I went to post **poof** her thread was gone.

I hate people like that and that I think that way!!

Like I said, I only read the first page. I was starting to get an ill feeling myself, but did not have nerve to question the OP. I thought how strange to just find out her DS had brain cancer, but she seemed so much more concerned about her trip (two years away) and how to start a fund.

At first I thought, she just had received devastating news and did not have her mind around it yet. I truly hope that is the case. I have heard of fraud using child, but always have a hard time accepting it.

With all due respect to Disney lovers, but if I found out today that my child had brain cancer....the last thing on my mind would be a WDW trip

Heck, I'd be so devastated I couldn't function enough to even post on a message board

I was wondering about why it was coming up as my not being authorized to read...

I thought it was odd that her DD had only a blood test and they determined she had brain cancer. My DMIL has termanial brain cancer and needed an MRI to determine this. The gall of some people if in fact this was a scam. Brain cancer is not something to take lightheartedly or wish upon anyone, let alone your children!!!

And of course everyone should behave just like you would. I must remember that next time I do or think something...I'll check with you first to see if I'm behaving in the appropriate manner.

Would you like my direct line?

I first have to say that if this is true, my heart goes out to S. Satterly (sp?) & her daughter. With that said, I admit I had a strange feeling reading her posts. I can't imagine hearing such horrible news & being able to go on line to ask for donations right away. As a RN, red flags were going off. I know of no blood test that would indicate brain cancer, without other testing such as a head CT, MRI, etc.

Also, I can't believe that a physician would give such a diagnosis over the phone... especially if the OP knew them personally as she indicated.

If this indeed was a scam, then shame on her. I am keeping her daughter in my prayers no matter what. If she is indeed diagnosed with CA, then I pray for a complete recovery/remission. If her mother was making up the story, then I pray for her in an entirely different sense.
