Was down in Orlando in April. We went to use our credit cards on Good Friday and they were declined. Went to an ATM machine for cash advances on them also declined. Since we were at the ATM and knew something was wrong we took withdrawals from our bank accounts. My husband and I were discussing this when two other Candians came up to use the ATM and heard overheard us and said they were also having problems. The cards worked great the following day.
What we learned from this was to have cash on hand/travellers cheques when in the States on a holiday just in case. Kind of put a damper on the trip as we did not buy the soverniers we wanted as we did not know if and when the cards would kick out again. With our dollar and gas prices maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
With all this we had a great trip ( was our first to Florida) and will definitely go back to do some sightseeing.
