What happened to the "recipe" thread!

That's exactly what I was doing when it poofed!!!!! I thought her tag was great! :rotfl2:

I was laughing so hard I was crying when I read her tag. Better than the blushing face I had when I read mine. :rotfl:

Probably poofed over to the cooking board

Now that would have been funny!

It was really an all in one advice thread--marriage, parenting and cooking tips. What more could they ask for?

I still like yours too!!!

Oh, and everytime I see yours I'm going to want those onion rings--didn't have a chance to go get some today. Of course maybe if I hadn't spent so much time on that now *poofed* thread I could have had my onion rings!

I can't claim credit for this recipe - only that I quickly cut and pasted it into my recipe file from the other thread!

Broccoli Casserole

1 cup mayonnaise
1 can cream of celery soup, undiluted
2 eggs, beaten
2 pkgs (10oz each) frozen chopped broccoli, cooked and drained
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp seasoned salt
pepper, to taste
1 cup herb-seasoned stuffing mix
2 tablespoons butter

Grease a 2-quart casserole and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise and soup, mixing well. Stir in the eggs and broccoli. Add the onion, Cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min.

Yes! Done and done.

Thank you for the recipe and I think we all learned quite a bit about carmelized onions tonight.

Can I delete the cup of Mayo from the recipe? We can't eat mayo/miracle whip. What if I put in a cup of milk instead?

I'm so glad I found this thread. I looked and looked and looked for the other thread for this recipe. I thought I was going crazy and then realized that the thread somehow disappeared! I'm no longer reading/posting to the other dramas from the original OP of the "onion thread"......it just isn't worth the aggravation!

Can you do sour cream? I would suggest that instead of milk. It shouldn't be a problem to substitute sour cream for the mayo. Milk just might make it too soupy, ya know what I mean?

Yeah, I was kinda bummed that I didn't copy down some of those recipes. They all sounded really good!

I think we have to get everybody to post all the receipes again. Or maybe start a new thread. I was at work and was reading on my lunch hour, and was going to finish it tonight. Oh well.

I'll repost mine:

Swiss Medley

2 (10 oz) pkgs Frozen cauliflower, broccoli, carrots blend, thawed
1 sm can cream of mushroom soup
8 oz sour cream
8 oz swiss cheese, grated
1/4 t. ground black pepper
Durkee French Fried Onions

Mix together all ingredients except french fried onions. Pour into a 13 X 9 baking dish and bake @ 350 for 45 minutes (or until bubbly). Top with french fried onions and place back in oven for another 5 minutes. Voila!

It really is good, the swiss cheese is what makes it so great. It's a staple at all of our major holiday meals. But, I never make it any other time...not sure why. I guess some things are just 'holiday' things. Weird.

You said the swiss cheese is the best part, but we don't like swiss cheese. Can another cheese be substituted? I don't like mushrooms, either, but I bet the soup doesn't give too much of a mushroom taste.

I make that broccoli casserole all the time except mine calls for milk instead of mayo and has more butter/margarine (some in the casserole and some drizzled over the stuffing on top). A half cup of milk, though, instead of a whole one like the mayo.

We only make it on holidays too! :teeth:

I don't like mushrooms either, but there's no mushroom taste. I actually just don't like the thought of eating mushrooms at all except for this recipe. I can handle it. Though I would imagine it would be just as good with cream of chicken or maybe even celery soup. And maybe cheddar cheese. I can't guarantee that it will be good though. But, it would probably be fine.

I'd though I'd share this recipe. It's one that my dm used to make for me on special occasions as a kid. :goodvibes It is sooooooooooooo good. :teeth:
