What happened to the Citrus Swirl?

When we were at the MK a few weeks ago, I was so excited to see - when we came out of the Tiki room - they had returned my beloved Citrus swirl at the Sunshine Terrace. Alas, I was very disappointed when I found out it was not the lovely orange juice concentrate swirled with vanilla soft serve anymore. Now it's orange sherbert! Whywhywhy would they do this? Ugh...I equate it to them changing the Dole Whip in a bad way. I was crushed.

Anyone else remember the yummy oj concentrate version?

Yes, I remember. It's a family tradition to see the Tiki room attraction and then have a Citrus Swirl. I guess I should say it "was" a family tradition. I tried the new version and it was okay, but it was certainly not the old OJ version. Bring back the OJ version!

AAAHHHH!!! First they got rid of the strawberry swirl and now they have altered my lovely citrus swirl. This is getting serious as they are messing with my favorite WDW snacks.

My guess for the replacement would be a cost thing. Although, I know the machines for the ice cream freeze from time to time for whatever reason (trust me, I've been elbow deep in those exact machines pouring down scalding water to fix the problem), so maybe the sherbert doesn't "act up" as much as the original version.

I was a big fan of the citrus swirl. It was my favorite snack at MK for over 30 years. The first few years it was not even swirled, it was just frozen OJ and used to give you such a brain freeze if you ate it too fast. But that didn't stop us. I've tried the orange sherbet version, might as well get a cream cycle. It's no longer the unique snack it once was.
