What happened to Space Mountain?

On my last two visits, the old girl has been bumpier than a Britney Spears concert with live vocals. Add in whiplash and the stress it's put on my knees (I'm barely 5'11, and it never bothered me before) and I can't see myself riding it again without some major maintenance. And didn't this go through some extensive rehab? My friend also had the same experience, so either I caught a bad ride twice in two years - and should probably buy a lotto ticket pronto because the odds, with or against, are in my favor - or I'm just dumbfounded.

Love the ride, want to know what's up. Big Thunder Mountain is in great shape by the way, just to add a little post-script there.

I don't know, but the track is the track. It shouldn't be any rougher than it ever was.

i rode it last month and didn't notice any major difference in the bumpiness. it never was a smooth ride.

I rode Space last Friday for what will probably (and sadly) be my last time. I know I'm old when I no longer can enjoy Space Mountain. ;)

We notice a distinct difference between Alpha and Omega sides. This year we rode Alpha side three times in a row, after only having been on Omega the last 5. I was blown away by how jerky it felt. Then later that day we went on Omega and it felt smooth as silk.

I'm sure there's someone waiting in the wings to tell me how wrong I am, and that both sides are completely identical in every way. They are welcome to be completely off their freaking gourd.

My suggestion is: GO WEST YOUNG MAN!!!

I haven't been on the WDW Space in a while, but we did just get back from Disneyland. It is an AWESOME ride, and the consensus seems to be that it is a smoother ride than WDW.

Admittedly, Space Mountain felt a bit smoother in my 20s than it does now in my 40s. ;)

We think there's a difference too!!! After the rehab, both DH and I noticed the ride was more jerky than before. But I don't remember which side we rode. Maybe on our next trip we'll try the Omega side. Although I don't know if DH will ride; it will take some convincing! ;)

No mas Space Mountain for me.
I felt like I needed a neck brace after that last ride!
Waaaayyyyy too jerky.

I totally agree! I admit that I'm not getting any younger, but I thought Space Mountain was much rougher in May than it used to be! I didn't even want to ride it a second time this trip. I used to ride it 4-5 times per trip!

Say it isn't so. :sad1: I had visions of riding it in my 60s and beyond. I can dream can't I?

I also think its jerkier. It was closed last year when we went but I have always loved it. Did ride the same side both times, so there may be something to that. BUT...it went from a must-ride to a maybe-ride. :sad2:

My sister just returned from Disney and she though SM was fine-she said that it was great after the refurb!

On a different note, it makes me sad that people think it is "cute" to make fun of Britney :sad1: For the past 2 years, she really has worked hard to improve her life and strengthen her career.

I rode right before refurb and right after. We take the FP lane every time (don't know if it makes a difference) but I noticed a significant change and will not be returning.

I didn't notice SM to be bumpier than usual on our most recent trip. Then again, I am pretty young!

BTMR, on the other hand...OUCH. May have been because I had my own row, but that ride was definitely not fun this time.
