What happened to Halloween candy?

Did all the candy companies take a vote and decide to make their chocolates smaller? I just went through DDs candy and there were chocolate bars that were literally a 1 inch square (baby Ruth and I don't remember what else). Fun size got noticeably less fun this year I think.

Blame the food police. Same people who did away with the half gallon container of ice cream.

Same reason I had to confirm I was over 18 to be able to access the M&M candies website a couple years or so ago.

Too, same reason I get less of everything for more $ today. (If they carve any more of my bar soap away, it will be hotel/travel/trial size.)

I buy the fun size and the bars are about 2 inches long. Are you talking about the tiny ones that are one-bite squares? Those are so small. I give out 3+ of the fun size to kids.

I swear, everything seemed just slightly smaller than usual. Even Tootsie pops were teeny tiny. I think the candy companies didn't think anyone would notice.

Those are the mini size, not the fun size. The fun size are still the same as always.

Yep there is a size smaller than FUN. I think those are the ones that you are talking about.

The fun size Milky Way, Snickers and Twix are definitely smaller.

It's strange. I bought Costco's "chocolate assortment" and it has the snickers, milky way, twix, almond joy, Reese's, etc. Only the milky way and twix had two different"fun" sizes. Half of them were normal fun size and the other half were shrunk down versions about 1/3 smaller. Same packaging though. Weird.

The fun size Snickers I bought for me were smaller :(

We gave out full size, so that is the only one I know about.

The product sizes have been shrinking across the board for years now, from ice cream to cereal to candy, in an effort to increase the bottom line by manufacturers.

Then again, maybe small things seemed bigger when we were smaller. Perspective!

And the toilet tissue companies making the rolls half an inch smaller in width. They thought we wouldn't notice. :(

The shrinking package size could be in part due to a shortage of chocolate. At least I've been reading about that happening recently, due to the growing consumption of chocolate around the world.

I saw yesterday too that wine might be in short supply in the future. Less land is being used to grow grapes, and with Asia's growing affluence more wine is being drunk.

Cut costs on ingredients and increase profit.

I think you have bite sized candy.

I like the bite size and the mini's as they can just pop them in your mouth and you don't have to hold and bite.

As my friend asked...when did they start making fun sized versions of fun sized candy?

My mom has been complaining for years that the Fun Size candy keeps getting smaller. Apparently according to her it gets smaller and smaller each year. :scratchin Me, I'm not really sure if it is or not. Sometimes I feel like it used to be bigger but other times I wonder if I'm just imagining it.

They offer a variety of sizes now that they didn't before, so I guess that adds further confusion. The Kit Kats in that picture are not "then and now", so technically that doesn't show them "shrinking"...you can buy them in both sizes.
