The last 3 years I've been able to get great last minute deals on Skyauction for Orlando. Now there is hardly anything..where did it all go???

I have been wondering too. What dates are you looking for? We are looking for January so it may be too early for our dates.

Our spring break is April 7-11..not really planning on actually going anywhere but i look anyway for fun...but there is nothing. We have literally in the past won a last minute auction packed up and left the next day...there used to be pages and pages to scroll thru, for sure at least 15...now you're lucky to see 2 pages of condo's for Orlando. Like Sheraton Vistana used to be on there all the tme, now nothing for them. I'm just wondering if there is another site that is getting all these last minute condo's that I don't know about.

Central Florida tourism is up, so there are fewer last-minute deals to be had. Particuarly that April week, which is spring break for many school systems.

Wow really, you think that's it? Not that they just aren't putting anything out there anymore? Like I've said I've went the same week for the past 2 years and never a problem with no inventory being listed.

I always been nervous to try skyaction.

It seems people seem to have good results.

Is it easy to use?

Thanks

Skyauction gets much of its Florida inventory from timeshares. Many ts users that would be travelling to other countries are staying in the U.S. because of the weak dollar. Combine that with RCI keeping much of its own inventory and you will likely see much less on Skyauction and what is there will likely be at a greater cost than in the past.

But, over the past two years, that week may or may not have been spring break for as many schools. The exceptionally-early Easter has many schools (including our own) moving off of Easter week and onto that week of yours for their breaks.

In any event, Skyauction inventory is truly the distressed leftovers---after RCI exchangers and members have had an opportunity to pick them over, and after any other of RCI's rental outlets have listed the week first. As tourism picks up, fewer and fewer weeks will make their way all the way to Skyauction.

A few months ago, SkyAuction pre-sold a lot of weeks and many people were posting here that they were thrilled to get this great deal. Perhaps, they've been taking their vacations and it's used up some of the excess inventory.

Also, in the last 4-6 months, RCI has a new link on their website where both Members and Non-Members can look to see what the general availability is like for rentals, Member Extra Vacations and other options. They've gotten better at marketing their rental inventory.

These, in addition to reasons described above, may have led to a reduction in availability. :confused3

will look on RCI getaway in a minute.

right now seeing the week after in the getaways on skyauction

so 4/12 to 5/08 - they definitely have.

on the RCI getaway - only seeing Vacation Villa at Parkway for Orlando - for your days.

some of the resorts protested skyauction using them to RCI. So rci can't use the resorts that say no.

even my favorite in these CWR does have anything until April 25.

Ya I remember that and I looked and it was all for off season...I think you hit the nail on the head with your second paragraph..what is that site? Thats what I figured happened they're not releasing the properties to Skyaucation anymore...would appreciate a site.

www.endlessvacation.com

Then go to the bottom right hand corner and click on the link that states "Not an RCI member?" This will take you to a booking engine where you can book RCI surplus weeks. The inventory looks pretty similar to RCI extra vacations inventory (can be found on rci.com and can be accessed by RCI members only) with prices a little higher.

In my paranoid of stock stayong low, I just used my SkyAucitons certificate I purchased in Dec 2007 for an October 2008 stay at FLORIDA VACATION VILLAS.

Not the swankiest place sky auction ahs had, but the RCI ratings all look good. Since we'll spend most time at parks & given the price ($179) I fell better having it booked.

When SkyAuction was selling all those cheap certificates, people were heading over to the RCI Weeks website where they could click in the lower right, just to "see" what's commonly available for the upcoming season.

Between that and the Endless Vacation posted by Riu Girl, it's become easier for RCI members to make comparisons and recommendations to Non-Member friends. And of course, for Non-Members to locate rentals. I've seen "Endless Vacation" magazine (usually a benefit, mailed to RCI Members) sitting in Dr's office waiting rooms. They market in all sorts of places and are mentioned in news articles. Their exposure has really increased in the last year, IMO.
