What happens during free dining if someone on the package cannot come last minute? If we have paid would we still redeem their meals or would it be cancelled out? Would the reservation be void? Just wondering if this has happened to anyone without the trip insurance.

I would think the meals could be redeemed from the rest of you on the package. If let's say granny decides she can't come at the last minute, but there were 4 in the room on the QS plan, now there would be 8 QS credits per day that could be used by three people. If it is DXDDP you could be in for wasted credits, if you are reg DDP than add some more TS or Signature dining.

It depends. Walt Disney World's official requirement is that everyone must be present at check-in. If everyone in the party isn't present, they may not grant the missing person/s' benefits (credits, entitlements, perks, bonuses, etc.) until that person or those persons appear at the check-in counter*. Then again, they may :confused2.

*Policy enacted to prevent "ghost" Guests.

Especially during Free Dining!

A Ghost Guest is a person added to a reservation that doesn't actually come. The rest of the people then would get the credits to use for food. The cost of this extra Ghost Guest is the cost of the ticket requirement that can still be saved for another time.

I have heard they (Disney CM's) ask to see everyone at check in especially During Free Dining to make sure that there aren't Ghost Guests.

People have been known to book the extra guest(s) to get more free dining. I'm not sure if that's so much of an issue this year as the last years. Now you have to buy a minimum 2 day base ticket to get the Free DDP. Previously you could get it with a one day base ticket. Quite a big difference between a one and two day base ticket. Also, with the values only get the CS plan, I don't see people using ghosts guests for that as much as they used to for the regular DDP.

But then those are just my thoughts.;)

PP, if one member of your party is a no-show then technically for the dining to be canceled you should be able to cancel the park ticket for that person as well. Any changes to your reservation that occur 45 days or less from your arrival date that result in a reduced package cost will cost you to make the change. I would call and ask. And get the name of the person you talk to.

When we go we are a group of 2 A and 1K and we are always all there. I've never had the CM checking us in ask to see all 3 of us (in fact sometimes DD is over watching a movie) but I have heard of it happening. They do ask to see the adults ID's.
