What groceries if any, do you stock up on.

We stock up at the local Winn-Dixie quite a bit. Bottled water and water bottles to bring into the parks are first on my list! We also buy breakfast items like cereal, milk, orange juice, eggs, bacon. We also buy snack munchies, sodas, pb & j, bread, beer, and wine. We usually eat lunch in the parks, but dinner is often in the villa so we also buy whatever we are planning on for dinners that week. We have a young DD and it is so much easier for us to do dinner in the villa because she loves to swim and going to a restaurant for dinner too takes up too much time away from the pool. Now I'm lucky b/c DH LOVES to cook. At home during the weekdays I do all the cooking (I'm a SAHM) but on weekends and vacations he does it all! So I still get a vacation break from cooking and we feel it does help slow us down and relax with good home cooked meals.

We usually stop at Goodings (expensive I know, but it's a tradition!) on the way in from the airport, and get some stuff.

Usually:

Soda (Coke, Sprite, etc, but mostly Mello Yello/Mountain Dew as I love it)
Water (Biggest container they have... WDW water isn't the best)
Sushi (again, tradition)
Chips (always handy for the random munchies that invariably occur when you get back from the parks)
Oreos (because we can only get the plain ones in the UK)
Frozen pizza (in case we decide we're too tired to go out for a meal one night)
Breakfast supplies (Bacon, bagels, butter, bread, eggs, milk, cereal)
Beers (for the parents, so they can have the pleasure of taunting me that for the next couple of weeks, I'm back to being underage... which really sucks)

Nothing really for making dinner, although we have made spaghetti carbonara in the past, but it was an effort, and probably less relaxing than going out of the villa and buying dinner somewhere.

We do most of our breakfasts & suppers in the unit and eat at WDW for the majority of our lunches.

We do our grocery shopping at the Publix at the corner of Internationl Drive South and 192. Prices and selection are good.

Breakfast items: Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, english muffins, cinnamon bread, fruit (melons, oranges, etc), juice (orange, apple), butter, cereal, yogurt...we also go to the Boardwalk Bakery for fresh, yummy rolls

Lunch: Deli meats, cheeses, bread for sandwiches, more fruit (grapes, apples, plums, melons, etc), frozen pizza, bag salad, veges (little carrots, cauliflower, broccoli), chips, small jar of mayo, ketchup, dressing

Supper: Frozen pizza, tacos, spaghetti, frozen veges, frozen appetizers (wings, cheese sticks, egg rolls, etc), bag salad, ranch dressing, leftovers from the great WDW meals

Liquids: Water, beer, wine, soda, juice, milk, coffee/filters

Snacks: Chips, nuts, ice cream, fruit/veges, cookies (2nd on the Oreos - DS loves them), pudding snacks

Misc: Paper towels, toilet paper, sun screen (we forgot ours)

We bring the following items with us because their easy to pack...dishwasher tablets, detergent tablets, softner sheets, soap, garbage bags, ziploc bags, salt, pepper

Thanks for all the great ideas!!

I don't plan on doing alot of meals in the unit. As someone said " it's the cook's vacation too"! :)

But on those occasions where we've had a big lunch and don't really want a "full meal" I really needed suggestions.

I agree about buying soda off-site. Soda in WDW grocery stores is outrageous. And I just gotta have my Coke or Dr. Pepper in WDW!!! :)

Please keep the ideas coming....I'm making my grocery list as we "speak"! :wave2:

Like many of the other posters we bring food for our breakfasts, some bulkie rolls and coldcuts for a couple of lunches and drinks. We also eat dinner in the room the first night. We get spaghetti, sauce, some pre-made meatballs and a salad. It has become our first night tradition (the kids are usually tired from day of travel).

Last trip we just bought snacks, beer, soda and water. We ate all of our meals out. BUT next time we plan on eating breakfast in our unit every morning before heading out. It will save $money$ and give us more time for ºOº touring ºOº.

Oh, I forgot-

Ritz Bitz, I must have them. They're possibly the best things in the entire world, and I eat them by the shovel full when we're in the US, because they don't exist in the UK.

I have even been known to make a trip to Costco to buy a crate of them, and a crate of Mello Yello to bring back home.

When we travel to WDW in the hot weather we pick up all food that can be made cold. I make tuna sandwhiches, lots of fruit, water, pop, cheese and crackers, and maybe chips. We just are not able to stuff ourselves in the heat without feeling ill. So the cold food it great.

But last time I also picked up pasta and sauce, garlic bread and a big bag of prepared salad. It came in handy when we decided to eat an early dinner in the room and before heading back for a late night in the parks.

Plus, being Italian, I am picky about my pasta!

We like to eat breakfast and Lunch in the villa, plus we all enjoy having our favorite foods and beverages on hand, it really makes it feel all the more like home to us. We usually do dinner out.

We fly in from NY and take Tiffany Towncar to the resort, stopping at Publix on the way. Some groceries I pack and take with me from NY. Here are my two lists:

Take with me from home:

Peanut butter and jelly
Fresh Bakery Bread
Dry Fruit
Napkins
Paper Towels
Our favorite Cereals
Breakfast Shakes (carnation instant)
Bagels
Mayo
Salt/Pepper
Mustard/Catsup
Tequila
Chips/Dip
Crackers
Popcorn
Pancake fixings and Syrup
Tuna
Granola Bars
Rice Krispie Treats
English Muffins

Stop at Publix and buy on the way to BWV:

Water (agree with all the other posters regarding need)
Eggs
Bacon
Milk
OJ
Grape Juice
Cheese
Cold Cuts
Onion
Fresh Fruit
Sprouts
Butter
Margarine
Pickles
Potatoes
Ice Cream
Soda
Whipped Cream

A small addition:
We let the kids splurge on Pillsbury cookie dough since we don't buy it at home. By the time baths were done, so were the warm cookies.

Ooohh. I love the cookie idea.

We do like most of the others here. My ds is a picky eater, but will eat sausage(yuck to me) so we buy that refrigerated precooked sausage and a loaf of bread for him and dh to have sausage sandwiches in the morning for breakfast, usually I'll buy some donuts for me(I have a major sweet tooth but don't usually eat donuts so this is a treat for me), and then we usually do one breakfast out. If we're there long enough we'll get a frozen pizza and sandwich fixings like ham and cheese. I also like to get a gallon of distilled water to fix lemonade or tea(usually just bring a pack or two with me instead of buying a whole package) and we always buy cokes and the smaller bottles of water to carry into the parks. We also usually buy chips of some kind. I generally carry those fruit snacks in my luggage 'cause ds loves 'em, and maybe even some kind of candy if I think I can get it there without melting.

I think next time I might try and make tuna salad for sandwiches as well. (This might just be because tuna sounds extremely good to me right now--haven't had it in 6 months, my ob/gyn won't let me have any kind of seafood since I'm pregnant!)

PUR WATER FILTER that attaches to the kitchen facet.

It does wonders to the water and is a heck of a lot cheaper than bottle water.

That's an interesting idea. Is there a certain kind or size that you need to get?

Being a new member and not gone yet, what do you do with the left over food when you leave. Do they throw it out or do we need to take care of it??..smjj

Pur Water filter.

Just get the one that screws onto the kitchen facet. You take the screen off the facet and screw the filter on. It's very simple. We did it at OKW the last time we were there. It beats bringing one of those filtered pitchers (smaller), which we did at our BCV stay. I tell you, it makes the water taste great. Both of them.

I know Target and Costco carry them. I'm sure Wal-Mart would too.

We do braekfast and snacks:

English muffins
Ham
Cheese
(The above make an "Egg McMuffin" type sandwich)
Butter
Fresh Fruit(cut up like fruit salad)
Coffee
Tea
Sugar
Salt & Pepper
Cheese
Crackers
Soda
Whatever alcoholic beverages we decide
Water
Chips
Dip
Cookies

We don't cook lunch or dinner in the unit If I had an evening where I didn't want a big dinner, I'd probably pick up something fom the gift shop or do cheese and crackers.

I agree with everyone's lists.

Being able to eat in our villa was a major plus to us for buying DVC. To us, it makes it feel more like home when we eat familiar foods and is very relaxing when we don't feel like going one more step.

I always buy plastic wrap and Glad-lock bags to keep leftovers fresh. I think next time I will pack a couple "disposable" Glad containers.
