We are going to DL Nov. 18-23 (checking out Thanksgiving Day). I have ressies at Paradise Pier but am looking to save some $$. So can you tell me which Good Neighbor hotel is good and why. We've been to WDW several times but never to DL. Please help!

You are going to get Candy Cane Inn on this board by resounding totals. Personally, I haven't stayed there, but would look into it and I just might on my next trip. The only place I have stayed off site at DL is Howard Johnson's. Negative is one of the longest walks on Harbor and no breakfast. Postives are decent price, clean, helpful staff (their manager upgraded us/gave us a larger room just by asking) I might look to stay closer and try something new, I hear it is about the same walk as Candy Cane in opposite directions.

Candy Cane Inn!
We stayed stayed at PP in Oct 05 and CCI in March 06- so its easy for me to compare the two.

They are about the same distance from the enterance. CCI offers a free shuttle every 1/2 hour. Disney does not, they expect you to walk.

The free breakfast at the candy cane was better then what the PP offered us in the conceirge lounge. The candy canes did have more people at it, but there was never a lack of fresh food.

The rooms are larger at PP, as is the pool. But, we dont spend a lot of time in our room or at the pool. You can get a larger (deluxe or premium room at CCI). I'll let you know if its worth it in a couple weeks.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orange County and got a price cheaper than any of the Disney hotels. They also have a free shuttle bus to Disney regularly as opposed to some other hotels in the area which have the shuttle you have to pay for. It is the first stop on the bus so you'll always have a seat. The hotel is luxurious and the beds in the renovated rooms are the most comfortable I've ever been in, complete with duvets. It's also across the street from a Target where you can get all your snacks and drinks cheap. The only downside is that it's not within walking distance so if you want to come back really more than an hour after the park closes, you have to take a taxi. Even that isn't bad (about $10-$12) considering the money saved on the Disney hotels.

My first choice would be the Candy Cane Inn. We have also stayed at the Park Inn (these boards mentioned that it has recently changed name to the Anaheim Camelot Inn with the same owner) and the Howard Johnson and liked both of them. We have stayed in other good neighbour hotels that were fine too but wouldn't recommend them due to them not being within easy walking distance (a must for us!).

The reasons we would choose the Candy Cane Inn over the other two are: comparable walking distance but CCI has a free, frequent shuttle if you want it, CCI had a very good continental breakfast (the best we have had around DL), they have the most comfortable beds with feather duvets and plenty of pillows (small but plentiful), rooms and grounds are clean (not that the others were not clean but CCI is VERY clean), the pool and grounds are lovely, the CCI is very quiet and there is plenty of parking if you rent a car.

Okay, I have checked out the Candy Cane Inn. It looks really great. I found out that I am going to be charged a fee to change my ressie but I don't know how much yet. Is it worth it to change?
