What gift are you excited to give this year?

We have an eight month old foster daughter we got from the hospital. She will be moving on soon to her adoptive home. Our hearts are breaking. I took a picture of the baby and my 20 yo DD on Thanksgiving day, and it came out beautiful. We got a 4x6 print made and I found this frame that says 'Sisters Always - Always Sisters' written around the outside. It is so special because my older daughter (who is studying sign language) always signs 'sister' to the baby to teach her. I just cant wait for her to open it.

:hug::hug:

WOW! I'd love to see his reaction to your gift, talk about thoughtful! :lovestruc

Between pay cuts and DD's Heritage Tour coming up, we've been scraping, and already told DD that Christmas would be lean this year, which she's fine with. But last week I found on EBay the one thing she wanted more than anything, an acoustic guitar (which she wants to learn how to play) and got it for only $37 and free shipping. So I can't WAIT to see how excited she'll be when she sees it, she doesn't expect anything like it! :cloud9:

Cool! Im sure she will love it!:goodvibes

The gift I'm most excited:banana: to give is the surprise trip we have planned to Disney World. We leave Tuesday, we aren't telling DD7 & DS10 anything just Driving to the airport it will be really early since our flight leaves at 6:45am they'll probably sleep the whole way can't wait to see their faces when we get to the Airport (this will be their 1st time flying). This is a trip that we had to cancel, I just rebooked yesterday! Their going to be so surprised!!! They were really sad when we cancelled!

Also:

DS10: Got him The new Super Mario Brothers game for Wii & Two guitar hero games for Xbox360.

DD7: Got her a digital camera, alot of clothes (thats what she wanted) and a new cheerleading warm up:cheer2:.

As for me, I'm excited to give my husband the Keurig coffee maker he has been wanting. We have a Tassimo, which he hates, so I have told him no Keurig since we already have a one cup system. He's going to be so surprised. As for the Tassimo, I'll give it to my parents (but not as a Christmas gift).

We  our Keurig and neither of us are big coffee/tea/cocoa drinkers before. We got back from a week in Disney Saturday night and the first thing DH did was turn on the Keurig and brew a cup of coffee. I was surprised how much I missed it while we were away :lmao:

DBF is a big WWII buff. On ebay I found an "officer's correspondence" kit from 1943-- it's basically a folio with papers that officers would use to write letters/take notes. He mentioned in passing that he would want something like that, but I'm sure he doesn't think I took the initiative to go get it! I cannot wait to see his face Christmas morning! :goodvibes
I also got him a bunch of small things-- nothing too WOW, but that I know he'll enjoy.
I still want to find something WOW for my mom, as well. DBF and I always give her a nice bottle of wine, and my brother and I are going in on a Home Depot gift card, too. However, last year I found the Pavorotti album on CD that she used to listen to on cassette tape in the early 90's on her way to work. It was her favorite album and she had wanted it on CD and couldn't find it in any stores. A quick trip to Amazon and $13 later-- her absolute favorite Christmas present. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything similar this year...

The kids both wanted to go to summer camp for 4 weeks this summer -- told them fine, but that it'll affect Christmas gifts. Also, we're leaving Friday for Disney  and the kids know that's affected our gifts.

But I was able to get a notebook laptop (finally! long story) for DS, and a netbook for DD. I can't wait until they see them!

My dad died in a military accident when my brother was just 2 weeks old. He's always been very interested in finding connections to my dad, but hasn't found many. Earlier this week I managed to make contact with a man who served with my dad. He is sending me pictures and stories.

Then, last night, I found a rare edition book that is 488 pages long. There are 2 paragraphs in this huge book that mention the details of my dad's death. The book sells for $150 if you can find a copy. I got on ebay and they had only one and the auction lasted for only 20 more minutes. I got it for $35!!!! Perfect timing! I am going to put a bookmark on the page about my dad and tell my brother to start reading there.

I can't wait to put the book, pictures, and stories together for him. I also found a message from the co-pilot that day that gives even more details. I don't know if I'll have everything together by Christmas, but I'm going to do as much as possible.

Between these two posts, I am bawling like a baby! :sad1: What wonderful gifts you are both giving. :grouphug:

The gift I'm excited to give this year is the Kindle I'm giving my husband. He's been wanting one, but thinks they're a little pricey. I think it will be well worth it. He will love it and our bookshelves will, too! ;)

We were flooded out of our home on 9/22, living in my sister's tiny condo since then...

I just got a call from the contractor a few minutes ago and he said the house will be done DECEMBER 23RD!!! :dance3::cheer2:

The gift I'm thrilled to give? My family's home back!! I'm so happy!! :cheer2::flower3:

My little girl loves to play school - she's always bustling about with scribbled papers and books. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up. (She's 6!) I got her a kit from American Girl, "Doll School - for Girls Who Love To Teach." Whenever I see her playing now I just think how much she's going to love it! :)

:cool1::cool1::cool1: I'm so happy for you! I'm in the camp of "Been there, done that" (twice) so I know exactly how you feel. Nothing was better than moving out of the RV and back into our home. Glad you'll be back in by Christmas. That's an incredible gift!! :cool1::cool1:

My mom: My sisters and I got together and we made her a photo book. We found pictures of our dad (who passed away in 1974). We also found pictures of our mom that date back to when she was in her early 20's. She is going to love it. We also got her a Garmin, which she has wanted for a couple of years now.

DS: Has no clue he is getting a Nintendo dsi. We told him it was out of the question for this year.

DD: Her new glasses. She wanted them so much, but didn't need a new script when we went to the eye doctor. She is going to flip. She is also getting a really awesome camera.

what a meaningful gift.... so special

I knit most of my gifts for my family this year. I made a Ravenclaw (book colors) scarf for my sister who is a Harry Potter maniac. She is going to flip over it. I also knit my mom a cardigan, she picked out the color and told me the style and I know she will love it.

I did make something for DH, but I don't want to post it cause every once and a while is on the DIS. It's something I think he is truly going to love. It's nothing to wear because he told me he didn't want anything to wear.

For my cute little elmo fan (DD), I knitted an Elmo pillow. Also, today I washed doll hair. I bought a Cabbage Patch Doll on Ebay about 4 years ago for the DD I someday wanted to have. I bought a Christmas dress for the doll on Ebay, so she will have a doll under the tree in a shopping cart so she can "shop" are the house with her baby.

I´m so excited to give 2 of my DD´s guinea pigs, I can hardly wait :)

Wow, I just got back from picking up my son from school and he is BESIDE HIMSELF with joy!! Wow, it's a loooooong few months!!!

Another thing I'm looking forward to is giving my son a Wii. He had one the first year they came out but sold his when I lost my job to help me out. I promised him I'd replace it when I was back on my feet.

I got him the Wii with the Sports Resort AND the Wii Fit. I cannot WAIT to see his face!! :woohoo:

What a thoughtful son you have. I´m glad to hear you´re back on your feet :)

I think I'm going to have to take out the Kleenex twice on Christmas morning! First, we're going to tell our two boys (14 and 11) that we've officially adopted our two foster bunnies. They keep begging us to keep them and we keep telling them that they're just fosters and someone else will eventually be adopting them. Little do they know I've already signed the adoption form and paid the fee and the bunnies are already ours! We're going to put them under the tree in their carrier with a note that says, "Merry Christmas! We're keeping them!" I think we're all going to cry!

Later that morning, we'll go to my parents' house to open presents. I made gifts for my mom, sister and brother. It's a shadow box with a potholder mounted in it that my Grandma crocheted by hand. On top of the potholder is a picture of Grandma that was taken at my wedding in 1988. She died 10 years ago this month and I wanted to give everyone a rememberance of her. I also made one for my uncle but I won't see him open it. Can't wait to see if everyone likes it!
