What gets on your nerves?

People who don't use turn signals. :drive:
Cigarette smoke. :crazy2:
Bills.
When a certain language thinks that they need it on everything. Even in the WAL-MART circular. Are you kidding me?? Of course, i'm one of those English as a national language people. Oh and I love going through the drive-thru and you can't understand a word that their saying and then ya look in the bag, and your order is screwed up.
Beggers. :badpc:
Charity, Political, Telemarketing etc. calls.
Grammar Nazis on the internet. I have an English Composition course on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you want to correct my occasional grammar mistake, meet me there. :thumbsup2

That kid from 'Home Alone'!!!!

Probably that time of the semester for me, but here's my nerve-inducing moments this week. Note that my students are college students and presumably adults.

Students who...

--miss class and then ask, "Did I miss anything important?"

--miss class or don't do the assignment, admitting they overslept or just didn't feel like doing the work. Or they say, "Can you repeat that? I wasn't paying attention." Then they say, "But at least I'm honest!"

--dismiss arguments & analyses with one or more of the following phrases: "It's all rhetoric" [used to dismiss strong language], "That's politically correct" [used to dismiss issues of cultural sensitivity and plurality], or "That's biased" [used to dismiss strong stances clearly articulated by a writer].

--email me the day the paper is due, asking me to explain, or in some cases inform them of, the assignment.

--tell me that they won't need strong English skills in their "real lives."

--send me emails from addresses like HelloKittyGirl82 or Cheesehead1981 asking me to explain comments on their papers...without ever telling me who they are!

--tell me they pay to come to class so attendance should be optional. Or that they pay to come to class and imply this fact should earn/buy them an 'A."

Whew, better stop now before I grade some more papers.

Candy canes that break my teeth!!!

I can't stand:

People who are too judgmental - after all none of us are perfect or at least no one I know is.

Dogs that bark a lot

Lousy Black Fridays (like this year's)

Losing our basic rights slowly but surely

Tollroads (just a hidden tax)

People who drive way too slowly or way too fast

People who won't listen (I get that at work a lot!)

Having to wait 40 seconds between posts!!!!

I work at a personal training studio. A good 95% of the people there are overweight and wanting to get into shape (not "I am quite underweight and want to add some muscle). The come in all sad and depressed and mad at their trainer because they aren't losing any weight.

Then you ask them about their nutrition. What have they eaten in the past week?

"On Monday we went to KFC. Tuesday we went to Pizza Hut. I really overate there. Wednesday we went to Olive Garden. Hey did you know they have a bottomless pasta option there now?" etc. Anyway, you get the idea.

Get a clue folks. :sad2:

People who come to my desk and say, "I have an appointment today" I then ask, "With which Doctor?" and they say, "I don't know" There are over 100 physicians where I work and I am not privy to all of their schedules. :confused3 Shouldn't you have a name or practice name when you are going to the doctor?

People that walk slow in the hallways. :furious: And they usually do it like 5 across as to take up the entire hallway. Wth, I have a class to get to!!

Lmao, did you tell them that's how much fast food they shouldve eaten in 5 months, not 1 week? :p

For work (taking pledge donations or taking infomercial orders).

1. Correcting my spelling (Especially multiple times) when I spell it back precisely. They just can't here the clear as a bell response I give.

2. For the donations: Can I get my money back if I don't like my gift.

In the real world:

Incompetence--I understand simple mistakes..but when they happen over and over again, I just lose my patience. I do have problems with "volunteers" like a church--who b/c they are volunteering, we should appreciate their efforts. Well just b/c you don't get paid, you can still not be good at what you do and not entitled to fill a slot. We are finally getting a new lector coordinator after 2 years of toe stepping and inconsideration to the ministers who serve. :goodvibes

Those are my biggest ones right now--especially elevated since I am preggers. I could go on ALL day.

Of course, it's just why on earth would someone be mad at their personal trainer for them gaining weight when it isn't the trainers fault? Then unapologetically tell us all the crap you've eaten and wonder why you haven't lost any weight?

Vultures that attack you the second you walk into a furniture store. :furious:

Oh yes!!!! They are an evil breed!!!!!

People who drive slow in the fast lane.
People who drive below the speed limit on a local street.
People who are in the far left lane on the highway and then decide this is their exit and drive across all lanes so they can get off.
People who talk on their cell phone while driving.
People who talk very loudly on their cell phone in public so everyone can hear.
Last but not least, some of my coworkers. If I have to return something back to them with a note attached telling them what it is they need to correct, they will still call me to say they don't understand :confused3

Car salesmen who say "What can I do to put you in this car today?", and then when I tell them, they say "I can't do that". Then they bring out the big guns to try and strongarm me into buying anyway. All that does is make me mad and make me want to leave.

Nobody knowing the answer to THE question:

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood???

Fake righteousness and piety. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGH :furious:

Judgemental self-righteous people. :furious:

Self-centered people. :furious:

overly combative people. :furious:

anyone with an obvious lack of compassion. :furious:

Shock humor (Sasha Cohen, Johnny knoxville, Tom Green etc...). It takes
zero talent and is sophmoric and degrading to the viewer and the perpetrator.

Over-rated,over-paid, over-hyped mediocrity in all it's forms and the fact that true brilliance, talent, skill and professions that truly give something to humanity (i.e. teaching) are unnoticed, underpaid and undervalued.

Smoking around children and elderly people. :furious:

People who slip my "adult film" stage name inappropriately into a DIS thread and try to pretend it wasn't intentional. There's a reason I keep that part of my life private!
