What generation Canadian, American, Italian are you?

3 of my grandparents are 1st generation with their parents from Germany, Czech Republic and Portugal (married in US), and Sweden. For my grandfather on my father's side, someone in my family traced the line way back to the late 1700's in the US.

It's kind of hard to say, really. On my father's side, I have a pair of great-grandparents that emigrated from Eastern Europe between 1885 and 1902. I have another pair of great-great-grandparents who emigrated from Ireland in the mid 1800's. On my mom's side, I have Irish emigrants from the 1870's, a French immigrant from the 1860's, and then a section that goes back so far that this guy who fell off the Mayflower is my 11th great grandfather.

On my mum's side I am 3rd generation Canadian (both sets of great grandparents were from Scotland). On my Dad's side I'm 2nd and 3rd as my paternal grandmother was Romanian and paternal grandfather was 1st generation Canadian.

I have no idea! We are American, with enough Cherokee to have been registered with the Northeast Alabama Cherokee Tribe as a kid. I had to attend special "Indian Ed " classes before school (no joke - they called it that, even titled our picture as such in the yearbook. It would not be PC today). I attended tribe events with my grandparents. The other side of my family has family tree ties to an early Government figure, so I guess we go way-back. Way, way, way back on the Cherokee side.

D.A.R. member, so it goes back all the way!

I haven’t joined yet, but have family in it, and qualify on multiple patriots. I have been working on genealogy for quite a while and completely hit a brick wall on my paternal grandmother’s family. On her father’s side I can only go back one more generation,to her grandfather in Texas in the mid 1800’s, but can’t seem to go any farther. But we go way back in the US for sure.

Our family goes back to 1636 when
Aquila Chase (1618-1670) settled in Newbury Massachusetts. My family were also founding members of Hampton NH. Later my family fought in the Revolutionary War.

D.A.R. member, so it goes back all the way!

Not a DAR member myself, but eligible on both sides of the family. (DD2 is named for my 8th great grandmother, who immigrated here from Ireland in the 1700s. And she was one of the more recent immigrants in our history.)

I'm part Osage on my father's side but not enough to get casino revenue. Darn!

I'm first generation American on my dad's side (my dad is from Canada). My mom's grandparents came to the US from Ireland around 1900.

Another DAR member.

Dads side: grandmas family dates back to the Mayflower. Grandpas family has family who came from Ireland in the mid 1800s. I believe that one of. Y great grandmothers was from Nova Scotia.

Moms side: I’m third generation Italian American.

Jokes aside about Domoland, I am long time Welsh (half) and long time English (half). Not sure how far back those go, but it's a long way, back to the Germans.

I am born in American as are my parents. My grandparents and great grandparents are from France.

I'm first generation Canadian. My parents came from England and South Wales respectively. My husband is something like 6th generation Canadian I believe?

Definitely 2nd generation American on one side. The other :confused3 some here before the Revolutionary War, the rest before the Civil War. So no one was keeping count.

My grandfather was 4th generation American, but as a child was only permitted to speak German in the house.

My grandmother and her mother used it as their "private conversation" language, so they intentionally didn't teach it to my mother and her siblings. :)

My mom came to the US from Ireland alone on a boat when she was 16 (!) She was poor and poorly educated and had an uncle here who sponsored her (!). My great grandfather on my dads side came from Ireland also.

My MIL descended from the Amish and she had a book listing all the descendants if a certain man who came from Germany in the early 1700s. I think DH and his siblings are in it.
