I'm still waiting for the Eagle Pines Project to be rejuvenated. Have not heard (officially) that it has been scrapped and until then that's my baby !! :thewave:

Eagle Pines. And I still think it will be built sooner rather than later.

I'm for the Poly, though AK would be a close second. Supporting a comment made earlier... What is it about the Contemp. that is an attraction other than the fact that it is within walking distance of MK? I think the Poly or AK would lend themself to a more thorough immersion in the theme (unless retro early STAR TREK is the theme).

All that said, it is entirely likely that Eagle Pines is next. There is money in them thar courses with 18 flags... Look at our (DVC owner base) demographics... We scream "disposable income" (and "Mouse fanaticism") and throughout the country lots of money is poured down into those cups. I don't golf, and don't favor the aprtment complex-turned "resort" style, but that's okay. Grow the DVC and we all become a little more valuable to the Disney Corporation.

GF and CR. But since it's just for fun how about the Villas at Castaway Cay?

HBC

Ohhh!!!! That sounds goooood!!!

For me it would be in this order if all were offered....
1 Poly
2 AKL
4 CR

But unfortunately they won't be offered in that order, and we won't be told if higher choices would be offered at all. So if CR is offered I might bite.

I voted "other" because we're quite happy with our SSR points and wouldn't "HAVE" to own anywhere else.

However, I wouldn't mind staying at The Villas at DBBN's Resort, although it would probably be 250 points for a weekday night....

I voted for Poly, which I would buy into right now if I could! :cool1:

I would consider buying into CR too. ::yes:: If Eagle Pines gets a go, DH and I would consider that too since we saw the artists conception of the resort and rooms, and we thought it looked beautiful. ::yes::

I know it's surprising that we wouldn't vote for a Disneyland DVC, but that's because airfare is actually less for us to fly to Orlando rather than to Anaheim/L.A. Go figure?! :confused3

Anyway, we're still waiting to sell our travel trailer so we can buy in this year for our first DVC - considering BWV, VWL or OKW for our first contract, but we may leave a little room in our budget for an add on at a new DVC resort in the future. :teeth:

i'd like to see more options on non-disney property, but it would depend on what they are and if it is a place to keep going back to. washington d.c. would be worthwhile to visit all the activities there. new york to go to broadway plays. grand canyon, some kind of skiing/golf year round resort maybe, something your could drive to outside of florida in the east or midwest. near a national park like yosemite.

another one that would be great would be DVC sections on the Disney cruises

Most definitely AKL! There must be savannah view villas available, however. I probably would not buy points there if all of the villas were off to the side of the property somewhere with no way to view animals from the balcony of any of the villas.

I know a lot of people on the boards are enthusiastic about VCR but that doesn't interest me in the slightest. I've never had any interest in staying at the CR and I certainly wouldn't buy points at VCR if it happens. I just can't get excited about staying inside something that looks like a big hunk of cement, even if it is on the monorail.

Please, Disney, if you're reading this give us the Villas at AKL, with savannah views and make it quick! I want to buy more points and I want to buy them at AKL!!!

I have to agree with you about the CR! Other than it is on the monorail system, I don't think it has much charm. I think we are probably one of the few that feel that way!

If I had to pick just one it would definetly be AKLV.Oh how I would love that to happen :teeth:

I voted other, but that really stands for "none".

Since we own VWL, neither the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian would be on our list since they are all MK area resorts and we don't feel a need to be on a monorail.

We don't go to DL often enough, so no California.

Hawaii is wonderful, but a long (and usually expensive) flight from Chicago. So I couldn't see us going regularly enough to make it worth our while to buy points there.

AKLV would be nice, but right now the AK is the park we visit the least and it feels so removed from the rest of WDW. I'm sure we'd use our points to stay there once in a while though. Again, just not often enough to have it be a home resort.

The only other resort we want to purchase right now is BCV so that we have an Epcot area resort.

If you asked my mother, I'm certain she would jump at the chance to buy at the Polynesian first, and the AKLV second!

boy there was a time when the contemporary was really something to marvel over, fond memories from my youth there.

I voted for myself. The Villas at the Contemporary. My dream location. **sigh** ETA: I love the "early Star Trek" theme, although I would expect a FULL overhual of the ultra-lamo pool area.

If my DH were voting, it would be the Animal Kingdome Villas. AKL is his favorite non-DVC resort.

Points at each, lol! I think I would buy at the following (in order)
1. AKL
2. Poly
3. GF

We are big on the atmostphere.

I remember the Contemporary as being really cool, too. And I have wonderful memories of spending a week there with my son when he was just 6 months old, while my husband attended a conference at CR.

I wonder what "special features" or themes villas here would have? And would this be a better location than BCV or BW?

I've been pining after BCV, but I might switch my loyalties....

Re: my comments on the Contemporary, I'm not usually so blunt in my posts on these boards so I do apologize if my comments have upset anyone. It's not my style to tarnish anyone's childhood memories. That's very unDisneylike behavior!

My first visit to WDW was in 2003 so I never got the chance to experience the Contemporary at a time when I would certainly have been impressed by it. I saw it for the first time after touring YC/BC, AKL, WL, GF, etc. I guess I like my WDW resorts to be more colorful on the outside. Maybe if they painted the CR purple or something... just kidding!

I think the reason my post about the CR was so blunt is because I'm very disappointed that, while there are rumors that VAKL is being considered, it won't be coming any time soon. We really want to add on more points within the next year or two and I would dearly love for VAKL to be the place where we do that, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen soon enough!

I voted AKL, although since I think VCR is more likely to come first and we're mostly likely to buy at the next one that comes along. If we add points we would do it sooner rather than later, point prices will only go up. We'd love to have the 11 month window at a monorail resort, and while all things being equal I'd prefer the Poly, I think CR will come first.

I would be interested at points at AKL even if they were not savannah view, because I just love that resort, but I would hope there would be a gentler SSR point structure than BCV or VWL if there was no savannah view and no easy park access.

I would not consider Eagle Pines and hope that remains on hold. I think they need to balance their building... SSR is great and I think it was time for another condo-style resort that includes grand villas but I think to keep things balanced it is time for a resort add-on.

Contemporary just makes so much sense right now... good for that resort, good for DVC. Bring it on!

It's funny, because I was starting to get offended by the fact that SSR (my new home resort) was getting knocked around a little on another thread, but then I realized that we all have such individual tastes, and, even more than that, I think, we all have memories tied into certain places...plus, sometimes we're just comfortable with what we're familiar with.

Anyway, WDW is all pretty fabulous, isn't it? The last time my parents were there (15 years ago) they camped at Fort Wilderness, so I think they're going to be pretty thrilled with SSR :)

Back to the future DVC property debate: would anyone visit WDW in, say the upper Northwest? Seattle maybe? Or Vancouver?
