What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

Went to Aeropostle to get some things for DS. Got a pair of boxers that should have been $6.50 on sale. They rung up as $.99. I didn't realize it until we were walking out the store. I was going to go back any buy 10 more pairs, but they said the ones I got were mismarked and I got a good deal. I was bummed! Also bought 2 shirts at Hollister and only spent $17! Pretty good for Hollister!

I sold my old (perfectly good) phone to my friend/neighbor for 50.00 (a win win for both of us)!

I went to Goodwill and found a lamp my ds had been wanting for his room (has a clamp that will go on his bed)--- only 2.50 instead of 20.00.

I have lost 6 pounds and saved money this week! We did not go out to dinner once this week (well I bought fries in the drive-thru for the kids today, the value size, and a turkey subway for myself...so that was actually lunch!) So I saved money and LOST weight! (Two week total loss, not one)

Today wasn't a very frugal day, DH took some of the kids to see a movie in theater and it was really expensive, but they did share popcorn.

At home I rented a redbox movie for a sick ds for $1, didn't cook dinner since DH and the rest of the kids were gone, we had leftovers and they ate sandwiches and leftovers when they got home.

I found a huge rip in the fitted sheet for my bed and I only keep one set of sheets for each bed. It was too jagged for my limited sewing skills, but I dug around in my closet and found a spare sheet that was actually in much better condition (no fading or tears). Now I'm trying to think of some way to repurpose the material from the ripped sheet.

I brought a picnic lunch to the baseball game. Since they don't allow food we kept it in the car and at the double header had a tailgate instead of spending 7.50 per person on burgers we only bought 2 drinks from the vendors!

I'm not sure its really "frugal" as I spent a lot of money, but I think it counts. I've been researching baby gear for our 3rd baby, due in the fall, as we gave away/sold everything we had from our first 2 children. I finally decided on a car seat/stroller that I wanted and they were priced between $249-299 on every site I found them. I remembered that I had a 30% code for Kohl's and decided to check there, even though I wasnt sure they even carried car seats. I found the one we were looking at on sale for $218, with the 30% off code it made it around $153!!! While I was on there, I checked some other things we needed and ended up buying the car seat/stroller/crib/pack n play/and some waterproof mattress pads for the crib all on sale, plus an extra 30% off and FREE shipping!!! I saved $185 just by using the 30% off code!

And on top of that, I got $80 in Kohl's Cash to use later, that I didnt even know I was earning until I got the email!!!!

Wow, that is awesome! :cool1::cool1:

How awesome and congratulations!!:goodvibes. Was this sweet one a 'surprise'? I just wondered as you said you gave everything away from your two children? Sometimes the thing you last expect, turns out to be the perfect thing!:thumbsup2

Instead of going out and buying something at the grocery store, I dug around in the freezer and found some chicken wings. Baked those and roasted some potatoes with some applesauce.

I am on a mission to clean out the freezer before I buy anything else! :)

It was "sort" of a surprise. We hadn't planned on having another baby for a few more years, if at all.As our youngest started growing out of things, we sold the big "gear" type things because we figured we didnt have room to store them plus we were facing a cross country move and didnt want to move them/store them again, if/when we decided to have another. We gave everything that I hadn't sold (clothes, bottles, blankets, pretty much everything) to my cousin who was expecting her first girl after 4 boys! Again, we didnt want to have to move it all from GA to CA, seeing has how we were only allowed so much weight before we had to start paying the overage. It would have taken up a lot of room in the moving truck as my husband had to make 2 trips with our minivan (with all the seats folded down except the front 2) to get it all to my cousin's house.....about 18-20 boxes of just clothes from newborn to 2t!

Then once we moved and got settled, we decided we didnt want to wait too much longer, because this would be the erfect time seeing as how my DH is non-deployable for the next 4 years, he would be able to be around for most of the "baby" stage at least. So we had decided we didnt want to wait, but hadnt really started trying and SURPRISE! We found out just after New Years! We're very excited!

I'm good about always shopping sales, but not good about avoiding shopping :sad2:. Anyway, I did manage to do two frugal things today. I was looking to place a Yankee Candle order to take advantage of the B1G1 & oil sale. Was going to spend over 100 so I could avoid paying 5 for shipping. Realized that was anti-budget and only spent about half that, plus the shipping. Second thing was that we have a party to go to tomorrow, and DH had gained a few (me too :rolleyes1), so I offered to go buy him something. Went to our local Famous Brands and they were having a 75% off sale. Got DH's outfit, plus a jacket and other casual stuff for me for about 58. I should have stopped there.....but went to Avenue with DD21 and killed the budget there.

Congratulations on your new suprise!

Saved by not stopping at the car wash today. I am borrowing a car from a friend for a few days (instead of renting one) while DH's truck is in the shop. It needed vaccuming bad and then I remembered my new vaccum at home. So I came here instead.

That's wonderful! I really enjoyed reading your trip report tonight! Your girls are adorable! Again congratulations and what a wonderful plan, so your husband can be home through your pregnancy and babyhood! Thank you for serving our country!

My son in law did two tours in Iraq, he was in 2 explosions in Iraq, so is now medically retired. My daughter is 26 and they have 2 boys. I really enjoyed all of your pictures and they brought back fond memories of our trips!

I did some 'frugal' spending today. Went to Dollar General and got $5 off for spending $25 (they do this every Saturday). I usually get my weekly paper products (tp, plates, cups, paper towels), chips, bath products (soaps, shampoo for the kids, lotion) and detergent/dryer sheets. I needed to order Kcups for our Keurig, so I used my code for registering our machine (buy 2 get 2 free) and got 4 boxes of 24 kcups each for $27 shipped! It told me I saved $32 :thumbsup2 And started shopping online for dd12's swim wear. She decided she wants a rash guard for her top and board shorts. Went on Ebay and found a new with tags rash guard for $10 shipped! And instead of ordering pizza for dinner, I spent $4 on a BIG bag of pizza rolls and we had those. Probably saved $30 there.

OMG I do the same thing, but I just say its getting the most bang for my buck :thumbsup2 I love love LOVE sales!

Today I saved money by staying home and cleaning.
I also cancelled my Netflix because we haven't received a DVD in over month

I thought my vacuum cleaner was completely gone today, it wouldn't pick anything up, but I got out a screwdriver and worked on it some and found a clogged hose. So now I won't be buying a new one.

I was looking at some different store websites to buy DD some summer clothes and decided to take a look at ebay. I ended up with a pair of Roxy shorts for $6, and five other shirts for about $40 (Hollister and one Aero). Now DD is pretty much set for summer.

Took out the ingredients to make lemon poppyseed muffins instead of going to the bakery.I have a good stock of baking supplies, just lack the energy to bake with them :lmao:

Pretty much every Sunday, at least those that we have DSS's, I make a big homemade breakfast. This morning I made biscuits from scratch, scrambled eggs and sausage gravy. My kids look forward to Sunday breakfast and we can have it all for under $10.

Our weather took a turn again so we are staying in today and watching movies and playing video games. I'll cook a big dinner (meatloaf, baked potatoes and green beans) since the boys will be with us an extra night for the holiday tomorrow.

DH and I were just talking this week that we feel getting Netflix was one of the best things that we did. Having a variety of shows and movies to watch on the weekend keeps us home and we gather around the TV as a family more. :grouphug:

We decided to cancel cable. We'll still have Netflix and internet (through someone else now).
