What Free upgrade have you received and what for?

Hi,

Just thought it would be really interesting to see waht kinds of free upgardes are given away and why.

In 2004 we went to the Disneyland Hotel for our Honeymoon and were given V.I.P Fastpasses even though we were only staying in a normal room.

In 2006 we stayed at Newport Bay Club and had booked a Lakeside Room. We were upgraded to the admirals floor Lakeside room and had breakfast everyday in the Captains quarters with no que. No idea why.

This year we ahve had insurance added for free because the CM was very rude and the original insurance was miss-sold.

So what has everyone else received and why?

I got a free upgrade from the Hotel Cheyenne to the Newport Bay Club for my March trip

I had a upgrade from the Hotel Cheyenne to the Newport Bay Club in April last year.

I have had a couple of free upgrades, one from the SL to HNY & another from Cheyenne to SL. These were both because of the Service Magique with booking with an American Express card when they were a sponsor.

Also included in was free welcome cocktails & a gift pack including early entrance to the park to see Honey I Shrunk the Audience (way before EMH). One the pack was disney stationary pack & the other was Honey I Shrunk the Audience pack including a mug, cap etc.

We recieved a free upgrade to a lake view suite in the Sequoia Lodge one year- Just lucky I guess!

Never had an upgrade but i have been downgraded.
Went from a Montana room at the Sequoia Lodge to a room in one of the lodges because the main building was full and they had obviously overbooked.

This happened to my mum. They moved her from New York to Newport Bay. Apparantly they told her it was an upgrade. That was a year or two ago and she just told me last week and I told her she'd been done. Guess it could've been a suite or something at the Newport Bay and that's why they called it an upgrade, but I'm not sure. Don't think I'd have been too happy though.

In 2006 we had booked the Admiral's Floor at the NPB and got a lakeside view. We also received the invite to take breakfast in the Captain's Quarters which was very very special.
In 2007 we were upgraded from the lodges to what I assume would be called a lakeside view room at SL, but it was difficult to see through the trees
Both times it was for 2 rooms too.

We've never received an upgrade but one trip recieved free tickets to Buffalo Bills and VIP fast passes ( we were staying at Santa Fe) due to a mix up when trying to pay for the trip. Disney kept trying to take the money but not completing the transaction which meant each time they tried to take it it was frozen in my account - 3 lots of it

December 2007 booked to go to NYH in a normal room.

When we got there I asked the check in desk how much cost to upgrade to lake view room, which was about £50/£60.

The gentleman asked if we had been Eurodisney before ... told him been that Summer (in the August) and he upgraded us for free!

Never been told "you have ben upgraded" but we have twice had lake view Montana rooms when we haven't paid for lake view. I think that is more a case of their logistics than actually being an upgrade.

Twice we have been upgraded at the hotel New York from a regular room to a lake view room. At the Disneyland hotel we were given one of the rooms overlooking Fantasia Gardens with one of the balconies, I think this was still a regular room and not an upgrade, we were just lucky!

Oh and once at the California Grill DH and our 2 best friends ordered the set 5 course meal. I wanted a different starter and main so ordered seperates, but the waiter have me a free fish course and free cheese course which I thought was sweet! He said he didn't want me sitting without food when the others were eating!!

October 2007 we were upgraded from a standard to a family room in the DLH which was lovely but totally spoiled us for when we went back in October 2008 and had to slum it in a standard

When we got engaged at DLH they put flowers and champagne in our room (at Jacks request) but did not charge us for them when we checked out!!

Jack had to check the price and reciept and everything but it was our engagement gift from Disney - he'd chosen the most expensive ones aswell!!

I've had a free upgrade for 6 from the Santa Fe to the NBC - it might be coincidence, but it was just after I'd had to complain to DLRP about their customer service .

We have had a lake view room at the Sequioa with no extra charge

and another time pluto plushies and mickey bowl and plate welcoming us to normal montana room.


But the best was this year we booked Hotel New York but when checking in at Ashford we were upgraded due to over booking to the Disneyland Hotel , they also gave the whole family complimentary VIP fast passes for the whole stay

I just think we were upgraded as we got a room in the main building at the SL when we had payied for a standard room.
Mind you no one told us we had been upgraded so i might just be wrong lol

Once we were upgraded to a lake view room at the Hotel New York.
Once we got a Castle Club room with park view, champagne, roses and a toy for the kids. This was when my husband asked if he could arrange something special for our 20th anniversary (it all were presents from Disney).
