Snakes

Totally get that heart pounding, cold sweat, jump in the air trying to run feeling.

Open water when you can't see the bottom. I'm okay in boats, just don't let me fall in!
Heights, when I'm unrestrained. Can't stand mountaintops if you can see the edge anywhere! Can't stand to see my kids on mountaintops, either (although seeing my DH on one doesn't trouble me in the least...what does THAT mean????)

Sometimes, DH & I will be walking in the woods, & for no reason, I get this "feeling" that someone or something is there. Or just a bad feeling about the area. It doesn't happen all the time or every where we go. Just a few select places.

I always wonder if something happened there years ago (since this is New England).



I have other more normal fears, like snakes. But they don't FREAK me as much as the woods feeling.

-bugs, especially roaches and those silverfish or whatever that have like a bazillion legs
-the Orajel commercial that was just on that showed the closeup of a mouth sore. No one needs to see that!

open water - for some reason I am OK on the cruise ships as long as I don't think too much about it...also hate driving over big bridges or long expanses over water..soemtimes driving next to water...

the basement thing in the dark - freaks me out like I am 5 again!!! I won't go down there to do anything that takes more than a couple minutes unless there is someone else in the house.

I don't mind snakes or spiders unless they touch me when I don't know they are there - am fascinated by snakes as long as I know they are there.

can't handle scary movies - so I don't watch them and therefore don't add more to the list!!!

Worms and snakes freak me out. It's totally freaky to walk on a sidewalk after it rains. Worms are everywhere.

When I was little, I used to pick up worms and pull them apart. I used to see how long both ends can wiggle. Kinda interesting.

If I get in my car and realize I forgot to check the back for killers with knives, I will pull over and get out and look. I know....

Centipedes and millipedes!

And as much as it pains me to admit on a board about all things Disney, I really loathe people dressed up in costumes when I can't see their faces. I avoid them like the plague. Not just Disney, but parades, promotional events... anything. And clowns (even if their faces aren't covered).

Oh, and I'm not necessarily scared of it, but a little part of me is always convinced that when I pull back the shower curtain to get in the shower in the morning, something horrible is going to be in the tub. I blame that on The Shining.

I hate to walk alone outside when it is dark out....I always get a paranoid feeling like I'm being watched or followed

I also really HATE spiders but have tried to curb my reaction so I don't freak my kids out!

Me too to both of these. If I go check the mail after dark, I end up running back up the driveway so it won't get me.

Also with spiders. No doubt, we always find one in the house when DH is at work. I always end up having to kill and be "brave" for the kids but then I start to gag - really gag not pretend. DH thinks I'm nuts.

Oh, and I also hate driving next to those concrete construction barriers, the ones that they put right on the edge of the lane so that there's no shoulder left anymore. I'm terrified I'm going to have a spasm of some kind and plow into one of 'em.

Having my feet not covered up in the dark freaks me out. For some reason I have this fear that that killer with the knives will sneak up on my feet in the dark & chop them off. He won't kill me, he'll just want my butt-ugly feet & chop them off. I've got foot issues.

The worst is when you're stuck between one of those and a semi! My ex-BF used to make fun of me too--I'd go all tense and white-knuckle the steering wheel, refuse to talk, etc.

When someone pretends to give me a shot (unexpectedly) with their finger in my arm....when they find out I am petrified of shots. I have many times started screaming or crying like a baby b/c it is toooo replicating of the real thing..which of course was their evil plan.

Coming up from the Basement...I always run up and shut the door really quick!!!! (Good thing I don't have a basement at my house, but the one at my mom's scares me to death!!)

Sleeping with feet uncovered I don't care how hot it is, feet MUST be covered by at least a thin sheet, or the boogy man will get me!!

The feel of cotten omg I can not stand the way it feels and will die from a headache if no one is around to pull the cotten out of the bottle of excedrin for me.

I would imagine most people have that fear or atleast aprehension. Its due to the fact that none of us want to get mangled in a massive car crash into concrete crushed by a 20 ton semi.
