I have begun freezing loaves of bread. When I find them on sale, I buy a few and throw two into the freezer. We go through bread pretty quickly but it just keeps it fresher in the freezer.

I read somewhere that cheese can be frozen. I am interested in the little babybel mini cheeses. My sons love them in their lunches but they are so expensive. I found a great price on them at Sam's Club and would love to buy 2 or 3 bags of them and freeze the extras. Would they taste the same???

I throw cheese in the freezer all the time. Never had a problem with it:)

Bread, Milk, Butter, Cheese, pretty much anything like that I don't mind freezing until it's needed. I haven't tried to freeze the baybel kind so I can't comment about those, but I've frozen block cheese or shredded before it's always been fine.

So I have wondered, how do you use the bread after it has been frozen?Do you let it thaw in the refrigerator or just take out the slices you are going to use and put it back in the freezer?I just discovered a bread outlet store and they have natures own wheat bread for .59,I would love to buy a months worth at a time and freeze it,just wasn't sure what to do with it after it's frozen?Oh I heard you can freeze eggs too, haven't tried that yet either.

I just take out the slices I need and put the rest back in the freezer.

We just pull out a new loaf after we finish one. Never had any problems with it. I wish I could find bread for .59 cents a loaf...cheapest around here is $2 a loaf for any bread, and that's at the outlet!

And I also freeze cheese OP, but not the babybel cheese, I tend to mostly freeze shredded cheese, never had any problems with it after it thaws. :) I also freeze butter all the time, no problems there either. I haven't frozen eggs or milk, I've never tried eggs and IME milk thaws out very nastily......

I used to freeze them and they were fine, not always thawed by lunch time, but tasted ok when they did thaw. Then I looked at the expiration date. Those things keep about 6 months in the fridge. So unless it is a space in the fridge issue, just check the expiration date and leave them in the fridge. And with 2 kids, if they each eat one per day in their lunch, that is 10 per week. How long are those 2 or 3 bags really going to last? Maybe a month? I'm just guessing. Never seen them at my local BJ's in the big bags.

I think they will freeze well. They are well wrapped. I haven't frozen them, but I freeze cheese all the time. I think it will be successful.

I've started to freeze bread and shredded cheeses, too. As well has hot dog/hamburger buns. I've not had any problems when it comes to using these items!

I freeze butter, bread, shredded cheese, chopped peppers, chopped onions, and chopped celery. I've never had a problem with any of them.

I guess I need to start freezing cheese! I never tried it before, but it sounds like a lot of you do it- I'm gonna give it a try.

I freeze-

bread and hamburger/hot dog buns
prepackaged hot dogs
breakfast sausage
bacon
pesto (make fresh and put in ice cube trays- once frozen, in freezer bags)
milk (skim- empty an inch or so out of bottle first)
Girl Scout cookies
Pop Tarts
whole wheat flour (mom always told me to... not sure why? Does it go bad?)

I freeze about 2 loaves of bread at a time. It is just nice having a loaf on hand when you realize the open loaf is getting old and want a fresh loaf for sandwiches. I have also thought about freezing milk it would be nice to have it on hand when we run out. When DH is working I hate hauling the kids to the store for milk.

I freeze bread, grapes, and squeeze tube yogurt. Frozen grapes when it's hot out are a nice snack. I rinse them first and take them off the vine, so when frozen they have a slight ice shel.... SQUIRREL! :squirrel:

bread
Tortillas
Cheese
gogurts
herbs

I am sure there is more, but that is all I can think of right now....

I freeze

bread,
homemade cookie dough
bananas for smoothies
flour in either the freezer or the fridge depending on available space
nuts (stops them going rancid)
porcini mushroom powder for risottos
berries
passionfruit in ice cube trays
homemade veggie stock
apple puree

Does anybody freeze cooked turkey? Anybody know if cooked turkey CAN be frozen safely? I recently acquired most of one, and don't want it to go to waste.

bread
butter
hot dogs
hot dog rolls
blueberries
pre-pattied ground beef for burgers
hamburger rolls
nuts
chocolate chips
pie crusts
chopped peppers and whole hot peppers (we have a garden)
all forms of meat and fish
spaghetti sauce
bacon
