Hi,

Last time we went to WDW in 2002 we bought almost all our food supplies here due to the low dollar and brought it down with us (we drove). This trip since the dollar is not nearly as low I want to get most of our groceries in Flordia. They always seem to have different stuff then our grocery stores. The kids love to try the different things. Are there items that you find really overpriced in the US that you prefer to get here in Canada before you go.

I will have some stuff with us for the drive like peanut butter, bread, water, juice boxes & other snacks.

If you drink bottled pop or water I would bring from here. I find it a little pricier there, but I find it also tastes different (the pop that is)....I've been told it does as well but I can't remember the reason.

I usually end up bringing a box of food back....things we see on tv ads but can't buy here.

We also bring our own spices, etc. Things that we cook with but won't need alot of. We bring rice and pasta, special items for favorite recipes.

Our grocery list there usually consists of meat, fresh fruit and veggies, snacks and anything different we see.

Also I am assuming you are in a condo, not a hotel room....if you're not in a condo my advice is useless!!!LOL!

Just a hotel room, I am thinking mostly of snack.

WE are going to SIL in Tallhasse for the weekend before WDW. Dh is already planning on getting a big wheel of Brie from Costco in Tallahasse. They sell them for $11.00 and they are huge, like the size of a pizza.

Definitely bring your own pop. We pay $5.99 here for 24 and it was $5.99 US there for 12. I find the food more expensive there in general but I agree, they do have some different items that we can't get here. I find it interesting to look through the grocery stores there. I always find some great things to bring home with us.

We take our plug-in cooler and our own bottled water, pop, coffee (Second Cup not Tim's ;)) and a few snacks for the trip. Once we get there we buy juice, muffins, milk, cream, etc. for quick breakfasts and a few munchies for relaxing in our room in the afternoon (after our naps ;)).

Pop is usually more expensive in the Grocery stores if they aren't having a sale. I find that it is much cheaper and usually on sale at the "drug" stores such as Walgreen's, Ekard, CVS etc. Ekard sale this week is 2 - 12 packs for $4.88.
Also watch for the Juice boxes on sale. Capri Sun were $1.77 for 12 - but can be upwards of $3+ when they aren't on sale.
My kids love Bibo - which they don't have down here.....so bring those.
I usually find that Walmart (gasp!) is the cheapest.
I'm not sure if the prices are much different here than in Florida, but I'll be happy to check anything out for you before you drive down.

I went to the super Wal Mart when we were there this past Dec some stuff was quite a bit cheaper but alot of it was the same price as here but in US funds. I would reccomend going to WinnDixie it is just down the road from the Crossroads Centre when you get to the lights in front of the crossroads centre on hotel plaza blvd turn left you will go past the Olive Garden and Sizzlers on the right hand side it is just after the Sizzlers. We found them to be the cheapest for milk and bread and snacks etc. Chicken was really inexpensive 6 bucks for about 8 or 10 bonless skinless chicken breasts.

Just a note...We bought Cereal once there and it tasted HORRIBLE!!!

We bought Corn Pops and Fruit Loops...I know sugar but we were on vacation...They both tasted like crud...Will never do that again...Decided baggles are better in the morning anyways.:wave2:

too funny my husband who is American loves Americain Corn Pops and hates the ones we buy in the Canadian Stores. We always end up bringing extra boxes home with us.

I guess we all like what we are used to.

We always eat breakfast in our room, and the cereal is very expensive in US, so I usually bring those small variety packs of cereals or a box of cheerios to get us through the week. Also brought granola bars, snack pack size animal crackers etc. for snacking. When we get there, I buy the milk, water, lunch meats and bread. I take a few juice boxes to get us through first days, but also buy some down there as I'd hate to lug a case of those! However, I find we don't eat a lot in or rooms other than breakfasts....so much to do, so little time! Jo

We take most of our own food with us although we shop for fresh items while down there. We also like looking through the grocery stores because they have so much more stuff than we do here. I'd agree with DNSY FN though, most of what we saw was the same price here and in the US so buying in the US is more expensive. We always take pop and water with us which is cheaper here.

Living in a border city (Windsor) we are noticing that bringing food over the border is becoming a problem. Some days they'll allow certain foods over, other days they won't. Many friends and relatives who work over in US are now buying food items while at work to avoid hassles - and it never fails that as soon as you declare your food items (even baby food!), you are in for delays and food inspections some of the time!

I would check with Customs before bringing food over, Tiger
