What Food Do You Love That Others Think Is Nasty?

I like all of the things you have listed except the sardines - well, I have never had sardines, so I don't know how I feel about them.

Seriously, what is gross about bean soup or caponata????? Are your kids little?

No, they are in their 20s!! They won't eat beans, or anything they can't recognize!:rotfl:

Fried Okra
Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches - (Yummy in toasted Pita)
Hummus and Falafel (not too strange, but people tend to be grossed out by it for some reason)
Pepperoni, american cheese and yellow mustard sandwiches on toasted white bread - DH thought I was nuts until he tried it.
Maple syrup on scrambled eggs
Melted Peanut butter on ice cream

Cincinnati Style Chili.......Skyline Three-Way Chili.....Yummmmm!

What?!? Who thinks that is nasty!?!

Other high quality foods I like? White Castle! Breakfast of champions!

Boiled Peanuts Canned is best!

Love boiled peanuts, don't care for the canned however. There is an intersection about a mile from that usually has 3 different people set up selling boiled peanuts in the summer. I can't wait.

Funny side story....
DH is from Michigan, but has lived in GA for about 30 yrs, so he knows all the ins and outs of sourthern food.
A few years ago DH's DB and SIL came down for a visit. They weren't here very long before SIL looked at me and said she had a question that I would probably think was stupid. she siad "OK I know what peanuts are, and I know what boiling is, but could you please explain what boiled peanuts are".

I like to dip Nacho Cheese Doritos into cottage cheese!! YUM!!!!

That actually sounds really good to me. I'm going to try it :thumbsup2

Aerosol cheese.

What's better than cheese in a can?

Nothing is better than cheese in a can. Nuff said. ;)

I like Chocolate frosting on Saltine Crackers.

Dh likes peanut butter on hot dogs, and cheese and corn syrup sandwiches. Those two things make me want to hurl.

I've never had boiled peanuts. I didn't even know people boiled them. :confused3

I love to eat chocolate chips with Cheez-It crackers. At the same time in my mouth - and I have a system - 1 chocolate chip with 1 Cheez-It, then the next bite is 2 chocolate chips with 1 Cheez-It - so there's an nice mix of salt & sweet. And cheese. :confused3

Ok I went back & re-read that and I think I'm a little bit not-quite-right....

I'll second the PB&B sandwiches!
And Hummus and falafel are pretty much staples around here!

LOL....I really think it is one of those things that poor southerners came up with so they could stretch out the peanut crop and use up green peanuts that didn't have time to mature before the plants died off.

The taste of Edamame from the Japanese restaurants sort of reminds me of boiled peanuts, but boiled peanuts are typically served hot.

I love to eat raw potatoes. I've been doing that since I was a kid and every time I'm peeling a potato, I pop one in my mouth.

Peanut butter, jelly and cheese is good too.

My mom used to make the best fried chicken gizzards. I've never made 'em but once brought it up to DH. He hated the idea. I also pour canned evaporated milk over chocolate cake--something my mom and grandma always did--my kids like it, too!

PB & banana fans: try spreading PB on a tortilla then lay a peeled banana on one side and roll it up. Cut it into coin-like pieces. yum! You could do it with cream cheese, too.

Banana's dipped in ketchup. I've been doing so since a child.

Oh, I can so totally beat you all!!! I like...

VINEGAR!!! It's yummy, especially with cucumbers.

Yum. Now I'm hungry.

I don't personally know anyone in my life who doesn't like vinegar :confused3
