What film speed for best pictures?

First I am sorry if this is the wrong place. please move me, just not sure where to post this:

What film speed for my 35mm for best pic. 400 or 200. Also is it true that 400 is good for inside and outside picture's. What do most of you buy? TIA

400 speed film should do fine for indoors & out. What I generally use, tried 800 the last time and couldn't really tell the difference (except that 800 speed film will be affected by x-rays).

I use 200 for both indoor and outdoor, but for indoor I use it for close-up shots. To me, 400 speed pictures seem too grainy. At WDW, outdoor pictures on a sunny day are gorgeous with 100 speed, but that's not practical for indoors as well. 200 speed is my middle-of-the-road film.

Why not try a roll of each speed at home and take pictures in the same settings to see what works for you?

I always use 400 inside and out, and my pictures always come out great.

I've always used 200 and have gotten great pictures. No problems outside or indoors.

If in doubt go with faster film. I use a lot of 800 speed. Film has really improved in the past decade and the grain problem is really not an issue if you use high quality fresh film. In MHO the average person can not see the grain in a 4x6 photo with 800 speed film.
Unless you plan to enlarge to 8x10 or larger. Even then if you use digital technology you don't really need to worry about a grain (scan to enlarge).
