What "excuse" have you used to go to WDW?

Ok, not that any of us here on the DIS boards needs an excuse to go to Disney!!!....but just as there are some who are able to - and do - go a few times per year, there are those like me who have to save and plan and make it a once-in-a-while deal. We are going in '06 because I'm turning 40 and darn it, I want a week at WDW! ::MickeyMo That's why I'm pulling out all the stops to make it happen next year.

How about you? When you really need a "reason" to go, what have you used (especially if you had to convince other members of your family)?

This past August I used the "but it's cheap". That sounds weird but I priced it and a trip to the beach and Disney was cheaper. We have to have certain things at the beach because DH hates it. At Disney we are prepared for the cost and got a great deal.

I bought an AP so used that as my exscuse....needed to get my money's worth!

We are planning to go in May 2006 but last month added a January trip too.
We're going for 8 days.
I've told all the staff at my school that this is my "John Smith vacation" (not his real name but don't want to use it here).

This child in my class is soooo impossible.
The entire staff understands why I need to get away.
Everyone just laughs when I call it that.
If I did not have this upcoming trip, I would probably have to quit my job. :)

My Dad gave me my last excuse - he wanted to treat my kids to their first trip to WDW - sounded good to me!

We're going back in June - this time the excuse is that I'm graduating from college again, I worked hard and by golly, I'm giving my family another trip as my gift to me (well, us!)!!

Having an AP and getting really cheap DING airline flights is all it takes to make me go back :)

I have 2 really good ones! My son is the perfect age at 7y and it is my 25th and it will be the last time all my kids will be able to go since the oldest is getting married soon. So i guess that is 4 or 5 cause we had to go now because we had to help pay for the wedding too.
When it comes right down to it, I just keep piling it on until DH gives up

My mom just retired, so we took her there this August, before our APs ran out... She had payed for two of our trips in the past, so we owe her one more trip! :rotfl:

We went April 2005 and I want to go again in May 2006. My DS is in a PRE-K program and his last day is 5/24. But when he starts elementary school he won't have his last day until maybe 6/8. Plus we don't know the elementary school's policy about vacation time during the school year. I would love to go from 5/25-6/1 in May :sunny: So dates/time is my excuse

add DVC to that mix and that's why we went 3 times this year and are going again in 3 weeks :).

I am Mom and I said so, Thats my excuse, it works most of the time too!!!! princess:

We've used....kid's college graduation, 25th wedding anniversary, last "big" family vacation, my next trip in May will be the 30th anniversary of my 21st birthday....... :rotfl:

We have to go when there's a new attraction. Expedition Everest is our "excuse" for 2006.

Let's see...

For our first trip in 2000 we used the excuse of checking out Test Track since DH designed the tires for the ride. Our secondary excuse was that we were celebrating the 10th anniversary of the day we met. No excuse for the 2002 trip, but in 2004 our New Year's trip was to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We then had to book a trip in October of that year so the kids wouldn't feel bad about mom and dad going without them in December. Our upcoming trip was booked as a surprise for DD's 7th birthday and also to celebrate our new beginning (2005 has been one lousy year.) Of course, since we can't talk about the surprise trip, we're planning a 2007 trip so that we can talk about our 2006 trip without spoiling the surprise for DD. :teeth:

My dad always pulls the card....wouldn't you like to go somewhere else for a change like to go to -insert country-....He always gets the same answer "Are you kidding me ..what is there in spain that's better than wdw" It always works *shrugs* :cool1:

I had $60.00 in ticketless travel funds that just HAD to be used!! Couldn't stand the thought of not using it!!!!

We are going in January for our 6th anniversary- our honeymoon was land and sea, and our DS's 2nd birthday. Plus we want our DD4 to enjoy the magic of the princesses while she is little. We found great rates for our flights, invited the whole family to go and the CM helped us get pretty good rates for our MYW package. LOTS of good excuses!

Well first my oldest was the perfect age, then my middle, then my oldest was going away to college, and next year my youngest will be the 'perfect' age. It is also cheaper to fly my oldest son to WDW than to fly him home... I am saving that one since I already have the youngest is the perfect age thing for next year... any one need any help with these? I am pretty good at it ;)

Actually my husband loves WDW too, so it is not very hard to talk him into a trip. The extended family thinks we are nuts, but they would think that even if we did not make a yearly or more trip to see the Mouse.
