What exactly is the "HUB"?

I am new here, I work at TDS that was finally regained in ownership by TWDC ! I only worked for the WDC for about 2 months or so before we were bought by TCP, so I really have no clue as to how all this WDC stuff works.

I have been reading on the threads here about registering on the HUB, but what is the HUB, where is it, and what does it do for me?

I believe "The Hub" is the computer at the Team Center in Anahiem that you have to register on to use the Disney Portal. I have heard of it, and actually thought it was an ATM machine the first time I visited Company D. I need to register on the hub too, but I wont be going down to Disneyland for another couple of months, and it is a 5 1/2 drive from here. I cannot wait to see the information on it.

The HUB is a site where CM get information about things Disney related. You can book hotels at WDW and cruises with your CM rate. The first time you register must be on a Disney owned computer. The computers at TDS are not equipped to register you on the HUB yet. WDW, DL, and the Studio in Burbank, all have computers at their learning center to register on....

It is what used to be called The Portal. You may only access it initially (to set up original password) from a computer (or terminal) that is hooked into Disney's Intranet. Once your account is set up and active you can access it from at home.

You can do all sorts of payroll and personnel actions on The Hub, especially in relation to direct deposit and seeing your pay stub beforehand.

WOW! Thanks for all that information! So does this mean if I am not yet registered on the HUB that I cannot book things like cruises, etc with my CM rate at this time? Does that include reservations for DL hotels, or just the WDW hotels? Is it required of me to register to use my discounts within the park, or just my CM ID is suffiecient for that? Also, do I need to register on the HUB before I can use my online discounts??

For discounts at the Disneyland Resort, all you need is your Cast Member ID.
