Is it a roller coaster? 3-D movie? Live show? I've never been.

Okay, so I've never been on either. As a kid I LOVED roller coaster like this. Now that I'm older though, I'm always apprehensive to go on them and freak out while I'm on it but once it's done I like it. (with getting older, I think some fear has set in and I don't like it) :confused3

Can someone tell me what each one is like? I don't mind going in loops(once in a while) but they seem to have a whole bunch of them.

Spider-Man is a Dark Ride. It's a ride on a track in an enclosed building. It also combines the effects of 3-D AND motion simulation. All three happen at the same time.

Hulk has loops, but it's so fun I don't think that you will think of fear. The Dueling dragons have two roller coasters, FIRE AND ICE. They are both very ruff, and it seems that we always get headaches whenver we get done riding it. It has a ton of loops though.

You can find video taken by a rider at youtube (several of them actually). For the record, doing this is against the rules for very good safety reasons.

Same for all the other rides. One guy did video on fire and then on ice the next year.

I'm another one who get headaches and motion sickness. :sad2:
Does the track have drops? Or are all drops simulated?

All drops are simiulated on the screens. It rides on a flat surface, but the vehicle itself moves in all different directions. I would say it's a bit similar to a smooth version of Dinosaur in AK. Spiderman spins you here and there so you're always facing the action on the screens all around you. You really feel like you're right there with Spiderman. It's an amazing ride. The only problem I had was in one scene where it looked like you were going up the side of a building and then falling down. The effects were so great that I did feel a little motion sickness there. But just close your eyes for a moment and it won't affect you at all.

spiderman is amazing. even if you are afraid of getting sick, you have to go on it at least once. the special effects are the best i have ever seen. there is no ride like it that i can think of anywhere.

i agree...if you start to feel sick, just close your eyes....but, it IS a unique, great ride!

The track doesn't have drops. Everything is simulated. But even the simulation isn't bad, since the top of your car is open. I can't handle most sim rides (motion sickness sufferer), but I have no problem on Spidey. There is one part towards the end where I have to shut my eyes, but that's all I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil anything. You can totally shut your eyes on any part of the ride, and it feels like how it would on the Haunted Mansion or similar type of ride.

DD F and I and Hulk are both B&Ms, so all three are extremely smooth. Hulk has 7 inversions, while each of the Dueling Dragons tracks have 5 inversions. Go on Ice first. If you love that, do Fire. If you had a great time on DD, you'll have an outstanding time on Hulk.
Spider-Man is the first of it's kind. Many have voted this as the best attraction in Orlando. (Not for me. Hulk and Tower of Terror are the best it gets in O-Town, IMO.) The part that I would recommend you closing your eyes would be the scene in front of the movie theatre, where the feel of levitation starts. Enjoy your first trip!:cool1: And, as we always tell first timers, stay onsite!

We took my Mum on Spiderman. She said she was scared and didn't want to ride it again, but she enjoyed it.

As a benchmark, this is a woman who was terrified on Dumbo and has refused to ride it since :thumbsup2

So no, it's not that bad. If you're scared or feeling sick, close your eyes.

I liked it and at times I thought the vehicle was moving up and down, etc.... Now I come to find out it doesn't amazes me. This is an awesome attraction!

I totally agree. The name "amazing" totally fits the ride.

The vehicle DOES move up and down. The base of the vehicle follows the track and does not change direction at all. The part you sit in has mechanisms that allow the upper part (your part) to move 360 degrees, up, down, and tilt.

Cat in the Hat is similar, as the base stays on the track, not changing direction. The part you sit in can spin rapidly.

:scared1: ....that's amazing!!!! funny in a way, but not really! Glad she experienced it, even tho it wasn't her "thing"...it truly is not an attraction to be missed.....very cutting edge technology!

You are insane. Both coasters are very smooth and are not the same. Hulk isnt even as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
Here are the stats on hulk:

And the stats on Dragons:

My sister gets so sick on any kind of simulators, and she even has been known to have epileptic type seizures in haunted houses....however, she loves Spiderman and does it every time she goes to Universal. Every effect that makes you think you are doing things is just an illusion. Thats the wonderful thing about it....its all in your head.

i agree....DD & Hulk are very smooth rides.....IMHO, i think Fire is a bit smoother than Ice.....but, i still ride 'em both....

(mostly cuz DS prefers Ice  )

I am confused. I thought someone said the ride vehicles doesn't leave the ground - and now you say it does! Uh man! Anyways, what I am referring to is the intense scences like when you are falling, etc... I thought that the ride was more like a Peter Pan at Disney (you know track in the air) type of things, but I was mistaken.

The ride leaves the ground.....by about 5 feet. It seems like its much more, but its not....they put you up against Imax screens and you have 3-D glasses on. Its a bit intense, but very very good. You leave the ground, but you are still attached to the track and still attached to the base of the ride vehicle.
