Like Kathy stated.....the don't "Promise" anything. However, when you talk to them an entirely different impression is given.
I will use my example: We where sent a "Planner" form to fill out about 95 day out. I filled it out and mailed it in. About 75 days prior to our arrival I was contacted by someone and was asked:
Poly: Do You need any PS's made?
Me: No Thank You, I have already done them.
Poly: Wow, can you give me the PS #'s to put on your itinerary?
Me: Sure.
Poly: Will anyone be Celebrating any special occassions?
Me: Not really, it's a late Birthday, late Anniversary Present.
Poly: Wow, that's a present worth waiting for.
Me: You bet.
Poly: Would you like for anything to be waiting in either room when you arrive?
Me: No Thank You. I will do my shopping when I get there.
Poly: Are you sure. We Love to do things like that. It's what makes our jobs fun, Spending other people's money. LOL
Me: Yeah, that would be fun. How hard would it be to get a picture of Mickey and a couple of Balloons for my girls. Let me know How much.
Poly: Oh, that would be easy and NO CHARGE.
Me: Are you sure?
Poly: Sure, I have it noted and will take care of it.
Me: Wow, Thank You.
Poly: Well, it seems like you have everything taken care of and you don't really need us. If you think of anything let me know, you have my contact information. Make sure you get lots of drinks and food while you are here. If there is anything you need, let us know and we will get it for you.
Me: Wow, you guys are great. Thank You.
We arrived and checked in........that went smoothly, but the rooms where Not ready. No big deal....we wandered around.
At 5:00 p.m. (off season mind you) our room was ready.
Well when we got there...........Nothing. No big deal, just a picture and balloons. Well, when we got to the lobby later, one young lady asked my daughter if she liked her present........she said What present? The lady said, "Your Present from Mickey". My daughter looked puzzled and looked at Mommy and Daddy and I just shook my head and said, "Sorry, we didn't have anything from Mickey". I told her that she must have us mixed up with someone else, so that my daughter wouldn't be upset. As we left the door she called out to me to step back in. She then asked if we were in XXXX rooms and I confirmed. She said there should have been something waiting. I explained to her that, Yes there should have been but no big deal. She appologized (which was nice) and said that they would make up for it. I told her no big deal, but the picture would be nice. Well, 5 days passed and NOTHING. I didn't bring it up, because it was not worth getting upset about. However, in different discussions with other CM's they always told us to take extra food, drinks and etc. back to the room. We didn't take much other than drinks.
There is NOTHING in stone as to WHAT CONCIERGE is other than the offerings and services. I think that each person get's a different opinion of what the service is based on what they are told by the CM's they deal with. Sadly, you do get some grumpy people and well, it happens. If you have questions about what Concierge exactly is..........try calling the resort you would like to stay at and get in contact with the Concierge and ask them directly what it is they offer so that you don't expect too much and are not let down. That's what WDTC told us to do. E-mail might be a nicer way not to bug them, but again hearing it straight from someone's mouth would put anyone at ease.
Hope this helps.
