I was just reading the latest reports about the Poly concierge problems and agree with Californiadreaming. Why do I want to pay more if the staff is going to be rude. Staff should not be rude anyway, even if you are staying at the ALLstar resorts. Are not these staffmembers closely watched. My husband is really going to let me have it if we get there in May and this Concierge is not all it is cracked up to be.

Now for my question?

Other than food and staying in the Hawaii building, what do they promise. What else are you paying for??????

I really want the Concierge service just for the building mostly. It seems like one of the best . Close to everying, central location. Not to far from the GCH, boat launch to MK, right in the middle of the lagoon, not to far to the right, seems like the best view of the MK and lagoon.

Do I really want to spend my hard earned dollars (well, my husbands) on this??

They don't really "promise" anything else, other than a bit of convenience.

The concierge staff will make PS arrangements for you (or you can call and do this yourself.) Sometimes they are able to obtain difficult PS- if a high demand location is booked up for a particular time window, the concierge *may* still be able to obtain seats for you.

"Guest Services" functions are handled by the concierge. Check in, Billing questions, purchase of tickets for special dinners or events (Hoop-Dee-Doo, Luau, E-Night, etc.), requests for directions or maps can be handled here, so you don't have to stand in line at the main desk at the Great Ceremonial House.

I believe that park purchases are still delivered directly to the rooms of Polynesian concierge guests. For all other guests, park purchases will be delivered to the "Mickey's Mates" shop in the GCH, and you will pick them up there.

If you're looking for dollar value justifications for concierge, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Yes the building is convenient. But so are several other, non-concierge locations. Yes the lagoon view from there is nice, but ALL the lagoon views are nice.

If your budget is a concern, you really might want to consider what is is about Concierge that appeals to you most. Then you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth it.

Kathy is correct. I've stayed concierge at the Poly twice but last year had a problem with a CM and will not stay this year. For all the money I spent and to be treated the way I was really upset me. I never received an apology or anything from anyone.
The Hawaii building is in the back and yes, it's nice it's right on the beach, but all the buildings are nice and centralling located.
What I didn't like is that the Hawaii building is the furthest from the laundry room. I also thought it was ridiculous that a big resort like that has one laundry room with only 6 washing machines. I made sure I was there by 6:00 a.m. to get a machine.
Yes, they make PS arrangements for you which can be handy but you can also do the same by calling yourself.
Of course the food and drinks are the big plus because you save alot of $$$ there.
I was also upset that when we were there there was construction going on all over the place, even at both pools.
Whatever you decide, enjoy because it is a lovely resort.

Like Kathy stated.....the don't "Promise" anything. However, when you talk to them an entirely different impression is given.
I will use my example: We where sent a "Planner" form to fill out about 95 day out. I filled it out and mailed it in. About 75 days prior to our arrival I was contacted by someone and was asked:

Poly: Do You need any PS's made?
Me: No Thank You, I have already done them.

Poly: Wow, can you give me the PS #'s to put on your itinerary?
Me: Sure.

Poly: Will anyone be Celebrating any special occassions?
Me: Not really, it's a late Birthday, late Anniversary Present.

Poly: Wow, that's a present worth waiting for.
Me: You bet.

Poly: Would you like for anything to be waiting in either room when you arrive?
Me: No Thank You. I will do my shopping when I get there.

Poly: Are you sure. We Love to do things like that. It's what makes our jobs fun, Spending other people's money. LOL
Me: Yeah, that would be fun. How hard would it be to get a picture of Mickey and a couple of Balloons for my girls. Let me know How much.

Poly: Oh, that would be easy and NO CHARGE.
Me: Are you sure?

Poly: Sure, I have it noted and will take care of it.
Me: Wow, Thank You.

Poly: Well, it seems like you have everything taken care of and you don't really need us. If you think of anything let me know, you have my contact information. Make sure you get lots of drinks and food while you are here. If there is anything you need, let us know and we will get it for you.
Me: Wow, you guys are great. Thank You.

We arrived and checked in........that went smoothly, but the rooms where Not ready. No big deal....we wandered around.
At 5:00 p.m. (off season mind you) our room was ready.
Well when we got there...........Nothing. No big deal, just a picture and balloons. Well, when we got to the lobby later, one young lady asked my daughter if she liked her present........she said What present? The lady said, "Your Present from Mickey". My daughter looked puzzled and looked at Mommy and Daddy and I just shook my head and said, "Sorry, we didn't have anything from Mickey". I told her that she must have us mixed up with someone else, so that my daughter wouldn't be upset. As we left the door she called out to me to step back in. She then asked if we were in XXXX rooms and I confirmed. She said there should have been something waiting. I explained to her that, Yes there should have been but no big deal. She appologized (which was nice) and said that they would make up for it. I told her no big deal, but the picture would be nice. Well, 5 days passed and NOTHING. I didn't bring it up, because it was not worth getting upset about. However, in different discussions with other CM's they always told us to take extra food, drinks and etc. back to the room. We didn't take much other than drinks.
There is NOTHING in stone as to WHAT CONCIERGE is other than the offerings and services. I think that each person get's a different opinion of what the service is based on what they are told by the CM's they deal with. Sadly, you do get some grumpy people and well, it happens. If you have questions about what Concierge exactly is..........try calling the resort you would like to stay at and get in contact with the Concierge and ask them directly what it is they offer so that you don't expect too much and are not let down. That's what WDTC told us to do. E-mail might be a nicer way not to bug them, but again hearing it straight from someone's mouth would put anyone at ease.

Hope this helps.

When the resort was built I doubt many concierge guest or even deluxe resort guests did self laundry. I did not find the laundry to be small for the number of rooms at this resort.

As to construction. When is a good time for them to do it?Everyone wants it done when they are not there.

If you are going to Poly Conc. for location and lounge convenience, I think you will be pleased with your choice. I won't repeat my staff experiences at Poly Conc. because I have mentioned them on another thread. Threehearts

Please excuse me for this, but are we not allowed to express our feeling anymore. Yes you are right, constuction has to be done and there really is NO good time to do it. Well maybe, Disney might let their customers know of construction that is taking place and that way we could decide whether-or-not that resort is where we want to stay. Sounds simple, and could possibly make for a WONDERFUL VACATION. The laundry issue, well I am just suprised they have one. Lighten up! People will say what they feel. Don't take offense to it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.........Disney, I'll "See You Real Soon"

lovemy2girls,

We were at the Poly Concierge Dec. 6-13. All of the CMs were very nice to us. As far as things promised it is my opinion that Tara types in all of your information and then it doesn't get to the Concierge staff. There is a serious breakdown in communication. I learned from my trip that when things aren't done do them yourself. I left presents out for my children. It was done the way I wanted it done. We were there 7 nights and the Concierge never left the items they were suppose to for my children. I was also celebrating my 40th birthday and there was no mention of it.

If you really want Concierge to take care of small things for you I wouldn't tell Tara. I would tell the Concierge staff during your stay. Then there is no miscommunication.

Wendi--

Not sure what you were expecting when you got to your room.

Sounds the the photo and balloons WERE the present...

Anne

I got the impression that Wendi never received the picture and balloons.

Maggie

Hmmm...I read it as if the picture and baloons were in the room, and she didn't think they were a big deal and wanted more. If I misunderstood, I apologize.

Anne

Thanks Maggie & Ducklite,

Sorry, I was writing so much I could have worded it better.

To clear things up, NO we did NOT get the picture or balloons.

No big deal. I wasn't too worried about it.

Thanks, Wendi
