What exactly DID you do at Disney? May 2011 TR (TR link pg 44)

I think this is the first time I have ever seen a picture of the BC quiet pool!

Sounds like a good future Epcot plan! Don't understand who anybody could not like Epcot let alone World Showcase! :confused3

ME TOO! Don't remember ever seeing the quiet pool before. It seems... quiet! :lmao:

And I agree about World Showcase. It is one of our favorites. My dream is to eat at every TS and CS of WS. Maybe one day....

Q

It looks like your Epcot day got better. Too bad you missed the Beverly picture. I bet it would have been a good one!

Your smoothie looked good.

The Piggybank game is so cute. I like watching the kids play that one, but an hour of Playstation - I might have left them behind.

What country did you have for Kim Possible? I found some of them to be significantly better than others.

The World Showcase is one of my favorite places, but I guess that is because I prefer atmosphere over rides. Your DH seems to be a real thrill rider and there is certainly none of that in the WS. At least he has ideas for "next time"!

BTW, congrats on adding the night of MNSSHP and moving the trip back to October!!!!

Yep, Playstation when you are at Disney. At least they were Disney games, right?

DH had tried to drop his attitude and was okay most of the day. He did state that from now on no more long trips. 7 days tops b/c after that he wants to be home. He also learned that he does not like Epcot and will no longer go anywhere near WS. From now on our plans will be EMH in Epcot where they can do Soarin and Test Track. DH and Caitlin will go to a waterpark or back to the resort while I move on to WS.

Men and their video games. I don't think I've ever seen a row of women playing them anywhere, but men and boys of all ages light up when they see video games. Wonder what it is that makes them love them so much? I guess there's an inner competitive nature in guys that most women just don't have.

John holds out in WDW for about 4 days, and then it is time for him to fly back home and leave the rest of us to enjoy the trip. He really does enjoy it at first, and he looks forward to the food and a few certain rides. Outside of that, it's just not his thing to stand in any lines or deal with any heat or work things around other people. He'd probably be a better fit for a Six Flags-type park, where you just go for a day or two and it's over. Everybody is different. Jill and I have not stayed long enough yet that we have found our 'wanna go home' point. We've stayed for 10-11 days, and we still could have done more.

Sounds like you guys came up with an amicable solution when you want to go to World Showcase. :thumbsup2

It looks like I missed a couple updates but I'm caught up now. The October trip sounds great. My brother and I are going to be there for the Halloween party on the 25th. Can't wait!

Your compromise for future Epcot days also sounds good :)

I'm finally caught up!

I'm so sorry your morning at Epcot wasn't great. :guilty: I've told J I could spend two weeks at Disney at never get tired. Of course he looks at me like I have two heads. :confused3

That's great you guys get to go back for MNSSHP! If Your DH is going as a pirate maybe you could go as a girl pirate? I don't know, I'm all about the theming! I hope we get to go someday! It will be great to see what Emma wants to dress up as!! :cloud9:

Can't wait to read more!

The quiet pool was actually very nice and relaxing. We went back at night and it was so pretty with the lights.

I don't know either:eek:

The girl who does my hair hates Epcot. She proclaimed there is NOTHING to do there! I really like it....

I am super excited for you and your cruise/MNSSHP plans! You will really like the party!!! It is SOOO fun!!!!!

I can't wait for the party:banana:

I can understand a kid not liking Epcot, but don't really understand how an adult can't find something to like. :confused3

Well, y'all left Epcot on a better than it had started. Even if it may not be your ideal plan, at least you'll know what to expect on your Epcot days next time y'all go. And you'll be able to fully enjoy WS.

Hopefully in a few years I'll remember this plan. I'll probably think to myself "Well, maybe in 3 years DH has grown and will like it now" and we'll have the same experience again.

Sorry to hear you had to cxl your Via Napoli ADR. It's too bad your DH doesn't like WS. I can understand in a way because it's such a huge place. Many people die out from all the walking it takes

I hate the walking too, but it's not so bad when you take your time. If you are speeding walking trying to make it all the way around it stinks:headache: The hike from BCV to Akershus was a workout way too early in the day.

Diane, I think the plan to do Epcot for EMH and then let your DH and DD go to the Water Park while you tour WS is an awesome one. :thumbsup2 This way everyone is happy.

I think it's a pretty good plan too. I am hoping Caitlin would rather stay in WS but I am not going to hold my breath. I'm sure once she's older she will enjoy it. She is obsessed with going out to restaurants.

I agree with everyone on the Epcot plan. While it's not one of my favorites, I do walk it. I found KP boring also. I chose a quiet place in the shade to sit while the kids did it this summer. The BC quiet pool is nice!! I always like quiet pools, I hate being run over or kicked by other kids, so we rarely do main theme pools.

I always pick the resorts based on the main pool and having a slide and then we end up a the quiet pools. They are just so much more quiet.

Sometimes I really think we have married the same man!! :rotfl: Your DH sounds so much like mine except thankfully he like sWS at Epcot since it is my favorite!! We need a trip together to just walk around WS and go to cool places to eat!! :)

No fair that your DH likes WS. I wish DH could like it. I figured that booking BCV and being able to walk there would make it more enjoyable but that didn't work at all. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I could enjoy WS even more having a few hours alone.

ME TOO! Don't remember ever seeing the quiet pool before. It seems... quiet! :lmao:

And I agree about World Showcase. It is one of our favorites. My dream is to eat at every TS and CS of WS. Maybe one day....

Q

It is actually a very nice, relaxing pool and it was beautiful at night.

I would love to try all the restaurants. We have done 2 so far, so I don't think I will ever get to try many. I'll have to book 2-3 a day if I ever do a solo trip.

We did Japan for KP. Which ones are good? I would like to try Italy just b/c I think it is so pretty in that section.

I think the Piggy bank game is cute but the line took forever. Who knew that would be one of the longest waits we had for an attraction.

We stayed 10 nights last year and I think it was fine. I wouldn't mind doing 2 weeks. I think longer trips allow for more a more relaxing schedule but DH insists no more than 7 from now on. That just means I will have to cram more stuff into each day. Especially since I lose 2 days to US/IOA and one day to Discovery Cove. I'll only have one day at each park.

I have thought about flying out alone early so that I can knock out some of my must dos before DH arrives. He said that would be okay but we'll see how he feels in the future. I am guessing Caitlin would not like that at all.

Have you decided on what costumes you will wear?

I am just so excited. I should calm down. Things seem to go badly when I build them up in my mind.

I would like us all to match. I brought up costumes to DH last night and he agreed to be Prince Eric.:)

Two weeks sounds perfect:thumbsup2

I have been having a hard time picking which resort to stay at for our one night. My top 3 choices were Pop, POFQ, or the Poly. There are no public room only discounts available for our dates yet either:sad2:

I starting thinking about POFQ and Pop and realized I won't get the whole experiene of the resort in 1 night and whichever resort we stay at will probably never get repeated.

I decided we should stay somewhere that I have never really considered and won't mind that we won't be there again.

I narrowed our choices down and let Caitlin decide
Choices were:
Any of the All Stars

Pop (figuring we will probably stay at the new Animation Studios one day anyway)

CBR

CSR

Boardwalk

Swan/Dolphin

Poly- don't know why I left this on, I just want to try it so much and would make the exception to go back one day. Besides maybe I could get it out of my system. I just don't like that we wouldn't be able to take advantage of seeing Wishes from the pool or breakfast at Kona since we fly out early

also offsite
Coco Key resort- we always passed it last year and she really wanted to go

The Nick Hotel

I was sure she would pick the Nick hotel. Nope. She picked a resort that is somewhere towards the bottom of my list. Not really sure why, I just haven't had an interest.

I just called and booked our room. I was able to get a 15% AAA discount which is better than nothing.

We will be staying at

CBR!!

I have to say I am pretty excited. It looks like a fun place to stay. I think I counted it out due to size but I don't that will be an issue for our one night. We will have a car so buses won't be an issue.

Diane, we have never stayed at the CBR (as you know, we always stay at the CSR), but we have visited it a number of times. It really isn't as big as they say it is (I've had a longer walk from my room to the pool at the Contemporary as I have walking from one end of the CBR (the pirate rooms) to the pool; the biggest difference is the walks are outside (which we actually prefer). My son stayed at the CBR two years ago and he had no issues with it at all.

:yay: for picking your resort! I've thought about staying there also...especially in the pirate room. Reid would probably LOVE it! In fact, he's sitting next to me right now & was all excited when he saw the pics you have posted. I've thought about changing our reservation for Oct 2012 from CR to CBR w/a pirate room. :confused3 I think y'all are really going to have a fun get-away with the cruise & the MNSSHP. I can't wait to hear about the party. I'm really looking forward to going to it next year.

we really enjoyed CBR and will gladly stay there again. The pirate rooms arer a bit further away but would'nt be a problem at all with a car. I'm so glad you still get to do MNNSHP! My dh says he dislikes Epcot too but he confuses me. At home he likes to watch all the stuff on the history channel, but when i suggest that sort of thing at Epcot he says it sounds boring. wouldn't you like it there if you like it at home?

CBR looks so beautiful! And that Pirate room looks like tons of fun, I bet it will be hard to leave it and actually go to the parks:laughing:

I hope you have a great trip. I loved the CBR when we went last year but I also had a room close to the pool and bus stop. Not that this will change your mind but I have seen and heard a lot of complaints on the Pirate beds. I have heard they are really uncomforatable. Something to do with the mismeasurement of the bed and having to make the mattress equivalent to half a mattress with no box springs. Something like that. So hope you don't have back problems. But I think they look super cool to stay in.

We stayed in a pirate room last year with my friend that we took. It was REALLY nice!!! We found the walk to the main area to be nice, cause it's along the water way. I'd stay there again, but definitely with a car. The busses were always crowded!! We had 2 rooms, so driving was not as easy for us. It was fun, that's the ONLY main pool I've been to at a resort!! The slide is nice, but it did get crowded. The hot tub was nice!! I always love visiting the hot tubs!! LOL You'll like it!!

CBR sounds like a great choice. I've always thought those pirate rooms look really cool.

It's good to know that the others don't enjoy WS. Your plan for next time should make Epcot a lot more fun.

Those long trips are definitely good. We do a few things in the morning, enjoy shopping, resort-hopping, and pool time, get good naps and rest times, and then go back out refreshed in the evenings. It's the best way to do it for us.

We keep saying we are going to do some off-property things, but we keep putting it off. As much as we want to take the girls to Sea World and other places, once the Disney stuff has been paid for, it's hard to think about going and spending a bunch more money somewhere else. I think we will make it to Sea World within the next two years, at most, though, because I know Brooklynn and Bella (especially Brooklynn) would love seeing all the ocean animals. We haven't been there Since Jill and Trent were little. They were probably about 6 and 3 when we went last.

CBR is such a pretty place. Their food court is very good, and the pool is awesome. Nice choice! :cool2:

Wow, CBR! I have never really considered staying there either. My girls are too girly to choose a pirate room - maybe when DS gets older. I think the pool looks really cool and well themed.

After our pool time we relaxed for a bit. I checked to see if there were any adrs available for Captians Grill and there was a time for 6:30. It was maybe 330 now and DH was hungry. We decided to see how long the wait was at Beaches and Cream. There was about an hour and a half wait. We headed to the Marketplace where DH got a cheese flatbread to tide him over until dinner.

Finally dinnertime came and we made the short walk over to the YC for dinner. I thought the YC was very pretty and I wouldn’t mind staying there someday. I was hesitant to book the CG for dinner b/c I didn’t think DH would like the YC but he actually liked it. He said it was very masculine, I thought he would think it was stuffy like he did with the GF. I guess I have no idea what DH will think of things in Disney. He always seems to like things I think he wouldn’t.

Anyway, on to dinner.
DisneyoncanonMay2011277.jpg

We were seated shortly. I had checked the menu before leaving on the Disney website and knew what I wanted but they changed the menu.
Our server was excellent. DH spent a good amount of time talking to her since he had been asking me questions all week about why people from other countries and states come to work at Disney. She was willing to talk answer all of DH’s questions about how she came over from Japan 10 years ago and where in Disney she had worked. DH was happy to finally get some answers and declared her the best server of the trip.

I was the only one eating the bread. Oh well, more for me.

DH ordered a burger that was not on the menu, but I knew they had it on the lunch menu so I mentioned that he could probably get that. It was very good and the fries were great.

My steak was very good and I am sure Caitlin enjoyed her meal. She loved her dessert.

After a fantastic meal we headed back to the room. I had a hard time deciding if Caitlin and I should head to Epcot to see Illuminations or if we should head to the pool. Caitlin was willing to go to Epcot but I really wanted to spend the night together, plus I was hoping we would be able to see some fireworks from our balcony.

Jin also gave us a to go treat . They were perfect with a cup of coffee in the morning.

We stayed in the quiet pool until about 845. It is hard to see in the pictures but the BC looks so beautiful at night with all of the lights on and the quiet pool is a lovely way to relax at the end of the night. There was barely anyone there and the hot tub was pretty much empty. There was a little girl around 5 who made her way to the hot tub while eating a Mickey bar which I found a bit strange. She just sat on the stair and didn’t get all the way in but I was watching carefully to make sure she wasn’t dripping ice cream in the water. I wasn’t sure where her parents were either, no one seemed to be watching her.

I believe I told DH to stop moving so I could get a picture

We got back to our room and I was happy to see that we could hear the music from Epcot and see some of the fireworks from our balcony. I was sad to miss Illuminations but our night turned out very well.

I did take some pictures but they aren't great. It looked much better in person.

I am not sure I posted these yet. This is what our view looked like during the day. I know someone asked to see it. Once I saw that we could see France I had a feeling we would be able to see the fireworks. This room was on the 3rd floor.

To all of you East Coasters- Stay safe this weekend! DH took today off so we could have one more beach day before Caitlin starts school but now we will spend the day moving everything inside from the backyard and preparing for Hurricane Irene. I am hoping it won't be as bad as they say, but we'll see. I have to work the overnight shift Sat-Sun and I am hoping I can make it home before they start the lockdown in our dept. Once people start calling out or there is an emergency they don't let anyone leave. I really don't want to spend the whole day Sun into Monday at the hospital.
