What exactly DID you do at Disney? May 2011 TR (TR link pg 44)

I have heard so many mixed reviews from personal friends on MM that I am very hesitant to go there! Sorry your meal wasn't memorable!

Sorry about October but HOORAY for November and DC!!!!! I bet Caitlin will love it when she gets on board!! Chris has asked for a cruise for his graduation. I am already trying to look into my best bets. I really want to go on a 7 day cruise to Belize but man do I want to go on a Disney cruise! I have heard once you go on a Disney cruise all others pale in comparison! Of course ultimately it is Chris' decision where and what we do so I may have to give in on something!

:woohoo: WooHoo! WooHoo! :woohoo: When I read about the change to your fall trip, I literally got goose bumps & a little teary-eyed for you! I'm sooooo excited for you! I even did a little happy dance for you in my computer/scrapbooking nook! I really think Caitlin will be so excited once she sees all that the ship has to offer, especially the kids club & lab. And I think your DH will like the slower pace from the parks. The ship is just beautiful, there is so much to see & do! Don't worry you won't get to do it all - it'll just be another reason to do another cruise. The dolphin encounter sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. And y'all will love the beach at Castaway cay! :beach:What kind of room did y'all book & on what deck? You definitely have to do a TR for the cruise & let me know when you start it!

Oh yeah, if everyone hates the cruise, please don't hate me! :sad2:

WOW!!!!!! What a nice treat. I think you made the right decision and I KNOW Caitlyn will have an amazing time at the cruise too!

Q

I'm sad to hear about your disappointment in MM... I was thinking of eating there for the F! pkg... There are always bad reviews about H&V though, so I really didn't want to try that. Hmmm I'm still going with MM I think. :)
Sorry about the cancellation of you October trip but jealous of your cruise!!!! That will be a great anniversary trip! :thumbsup2

I am sure MM will be fine. The food is okay and others seem to have good service.

Everytime we walk by MM, it smells soooo good, we always want to try it, but never have. We always eat at Tony's, so MM is too similar. Maybe we'll have to try it one day. Just bite the bullet!!

Glad you're going on the cruise!! The ship is AWESOME!!!! I've seen it, shoot, you can see it going across the first bridge heading to the cape!! When DH was stationed here before he made Chief, he was right across from the cruise ships, and we always LOVED watching them. I think on our other computer I have pictures of the dream from the CG base. If I get a chance, I'll post them for you. It's HUGE!! You'll enjoy it. We wanted to take a cruise for our 10th also, but we bought a house instead! Priorities!! LOL Are you guys renting a car when you come to the terminal? We're not too far off the beaten path....would be nice for you to stop by and see us!! :)

We aren't going to rent a car this time. DH actually agreed to take the DCL bus to the port. I'm sure he knows if we have a rental I will somehow convince him to bring me to Disney for the day.

Yay for a cruise on the Dream!!!:yay: I'm so jealous, I've read a few TRs on the Dream and it looks amazing! I'm sure Caitlin will absolutely love it once she sees all the fun stuff they have for her to do, and of course a dolphin encounter will help;)

I am sure Caitlin will love it. I am a bit sad we won't make it to WDW this Oct. but I'm not passing this up. I still can't believe DH agreed, who knows when that will happen again.

Congrats on the Dream Cruise! I bet you will just love DCL!

Thanks, I hope we love it. I don't see how you could not?

OMG that's why Caitlin told me the other day you were going on a cruise!! That's awesome, I want to do one so bad! I was thinking instead of WDW in May for our anniversary to do a cruise instead, to give Brandon a break! We'll see! What kind of room are you booking?

She needs to learn to keep quiet. I didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure. Every person she has seen the last few days " We're going on a cruise"

A cruise for your anniversary seems like a great idea. The adult only areas look very nice.

Hi! Just subbed- going back to read.... your 10% huggable daughter is adorable!! :goodvibes Can't wait to read about DC!:thumbsup2

She has her moments.:goodvibes I can't wait to come back and share all about it. We would never be taking a cruise if I hadn't seen so many good reviews on trip reports.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Disney cruises are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are so going to love it! I am deliriously happy for you!!!!!!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I am so excited. I wish it was a longer one but I am hoping DH will love it and want to do a longer one in the future. He even seems excited to be going:scared1:

I am a bit sad Oct is a no go, but I am happier with the cruise I think. I have heard the same thing about DCL. Maybe I should have started off with something else. I wanted to do a caribbean one but DH can't miss too much work and I don't want to pull Caitlin out of school for too long. Plus I figure the short cruise will let us see if we like it or not.

I am sure Caitlin will love it. DH actually seems excited. To be honest I wish we could stay on the ship for our Nassau day but DH would only do the cruise if we could do the dolphin excursion. It was one of his conditions.

I hope we love it although if anyone can find a way to not love DCL it will be my family:confused3

WOW!!!!!! What a nice treat. I think you made the right decision and I KNOW Caitlyn will have an amazing time at the cruise too!

Q

I think so too. I felt bad at first but then I realized that the last 2 trips have been about Caitlin. This time it is our anniversary. I did offer to let her stay with Grandma and I would buy her any toy she wanted but she said no. Smart girl.

We have booked a

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
Category 05A

I didn't have much time to research but I went in with the expectation of booking just a porthole figuring we won't use the room much anyway. I also have heard midship is good for less motion. I was thinking 6 deck with a porthole. DH had other ideas. I showed him the rooms available and he picked the Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah which was $600 more than what I had priced out for an extra 50ft of room. Plus he wanted to be on a higher deck b/c DCL states that they have stunning views. I told him he had to give up something. Upper deck, extra space or dolphin encounter. He said he would give up the extra space but we had to have an upper deck 8-10 and do the dolphin encounter and waterpark at Atlantis.

I am still wondering what happened to my incredibly cheap husband who hates spending money but agreed.

We will be one the 10th deck with a verandah. It is room 10052 which is almost midship. Any one have any thoughts about that? Did I do okay?

Diane, we will be in 10554 which is just on the opposite side of the ship in just 4 weeks. I will let you know how it went for us. I can't believe that you will be in a stateroom practically opposite of ours!

The cruise sounds so exciting! I'm sure the room will be great. I would guess that there's not many bad rooms on the Dream. The dolphin encounter will be perfect and the water park at Atlantis should be a lot of fun, too. I'm already excited to read that TR.

I think y'all are going to really enjoy having the veranda. And midship should be a great location, especially on deck 10. On deck 11 is the pool, Cabanas (the buffet restaurant) & the ice cream bar!!!! For Caitlin, the kids club is midship on deck 5. If you ever find the elevators completely packed & don't want to do stairs try going to the forward or aft elevators. We only had trouble 1 time getting an aft elevator. I think deck 10 is going to be so nice & quiet! I'm just so super-excited for you!!!!!! :yay:

Also: What is so nice is that when your room steward comes in to do your turndown service, he/she will also turn the couch into Caitlin's bed for you! And they pick it up each morning as well when they clean your room!

OMG! You took such amazing pictures! I'm Falling in Love with your camera. Please, please!! May I know which model of camera are you using? Thank you so much! It would be much appreciated.:thumbsup2

Trying to sneak a few minutes on here to catch up a bit. Looks like you get to go on a cruise soon! Yippee!! I'm sure you'll be happy with your room! How could you not? It's Disney, right??

I am so excited for both of you (pinkxray and dizneeat) and jealous - I want to go on a Disney cruise!!!

Here is a link to reviews of staterooms for Disney cruise line - I didn't find your rooms but found ones close by:

I helped a friend decide on a really good room midship on the starboard side I think where the view from the cabin is of Castaway Cay (they loved waking up and going out to their deck to see the island right after the ship docked). There is a review of room 10550 which is close to dizneeat's room has the view of Castaway and Atlantis.

Also here is a map of deck 10 (the link downloads a PDF):

sorry that your attempt to get DH back went unnoticed. and that MM was no good.

i can't wait to hear about your cruise. i want to see what Caitlin thinks about it.

Congratulations on the cruise! That sounds so exciting and relaxing. When I saw your ticker on my TR, I just thought, "WHAT???" :goodvibes

Sorry your meal at MM was not a good one. We've eaten there numerous times and had great service and very good food (better than anything we've had at Tony's).

Sorry about the October trip, but "congrats" on the cruise. That is awesome!

I am hoping DH will pick either the dolphin encounter OR the waterpark but he isn't letting one go yet. It just seems like there won't be enough time.

I am so excited to be going, but part of me wonders if I made the wrong choice and should have stuck to the Halloween weekend. If it wasn't our 10th anniversary this year I probably would have but I really want to do something with DH and he just wouldn't give into the Oct. trip.:confused3 I haven't mentioned anything to DH but I am hoping to take Caitlin in 2012.

OMG! You took such amazing pictures! I'm Falling in Love with your camera. Please, please!! May I know which model of camera are you using? Thank you so much! It would be much appreciated.:thumbsup2

Most of my pictures were taken with a Sony. I forget the name but it is the waterproof one. I really wanted to upgrade to a DSLR and DH was going to get me one for our anniversary, but we decided to do the cruise instead. I am going to try reading the manual and figure out the settings. I have heard you can get good pictures with point and shoots if you know how to use them.

Trying to sneak a few minutes on here to catch up a bit. Looks like you get to go on a cruise soon! Yippee!! I'm sure you'll be happy with your room! How could you not? It's Disney, right??

It seems a good place, I guess. It's not what I would have picked but I'll take it.

Thanks for the info.

sorry that your attempt to get DH back went unnoticed. and that MM was no good.

I hope Caitlin likes it. I wonder if I should have stuck to MNSSHP and our Oct weekend?

Congratulations on the cruise! That sounds so exciting and relaxing. When I saw your ticker on my TR, I just thought, "WHAT???" :goodvibes

Thanks, I hope it goes well. If I can find anyone to dislike a Disney cruise it will be my travel partners.

I hope I made the right choice. I figure WDW will always be there and Caitlin and I can always go alone but getting DH to agree to a Disney cruise is not going to happen again any time soon. I am still in shock he agreed.

Trying to squeeze in a quick update before Caitlin wakes up.

We left off finishing off our disappointing dinner at MM. We had a few hours to kill before Fantasmic but we didn’t have much we wanted to do in DHS. The park was surprisely empty for the first night of SWW but the wait was still pretty long for TSM.

We mostly just wandered around and checked out the SW merchandise and where everything would be located for when we came back on Sunday.

We did see a few characters but there weren’t too many out. We happened to be passing by the front stage and show this guy coming off.

DisneyoncanonMay2011262.jpg

He was right in front of us and said “Hello”. It was so cool. He had about 20 handlers though b/c as soon as he got off stage people surrounded him to get his pictures. I didn’t even know you could see C3PO.

DisneyoncanonMay2011253.jpg

Originally Phineas and Ferb were supposed to be there for our trip but they pushed the date back right before our trip.

The top of Caitlin’s head was starting to get red so we got her a new hat.
DisneyoncanonMay2011261.jpg

About an hour before Fantastic we made our way to our seats.

DisneyMay2011onSony678.jpg

The whole time DH and Caitlin kept giving me there stuff to put in my bag. For this trip I used a mini Jansport so it held just enough. It was completely stuffed this night and they were constantly taking something out or putting something in. After a little while I made them stop b/c I was afraid I would lose something.

Finally the show started.

We enjoy the show but will probably skip it next trip. We have seen it every trip but always skip Illuminations. Since we don’t head to the parks every night I will have to give up one for the other. I must see Illuminations next time.

Great pictures of Fanstasmic!
We didn't see this show until probably our 5th trip. I had wanted to see it but my DD was afraid of fireworks, loud noises etc.
I had watched it on YouTube and really wanted to see it on one of our trips. I finally told my DH that I was going to watch it myself and he could take DD & DS to another park or back to the room, whatever they wanted to do.
My DS decided if I paid him $1 he would see it with me. (He was young then -now his price would be higher-lol). I said sure.
It ended up they all saw it and loved it - even my DD.
I would love to do a Disney Cruise - can't wait to read how that turns out for you all.
Enjoying your TR and waiting for more updatespopcorn::
Amy

You know, I think we had nearly identical schedules. We also went to SWW the Sunday of that first weekend. I can't believe that we were in the same parks pretty much every day and in the same areas too and we never ran into each other! Well, you did see me run by in France and Mom thought she spotted you in Japan. I just think it is kinda funny.

Great update!!! We finally saw fantasmic for the first time a few weeks ago. It was good, and fun, but once with that mad crowd is enough for me!!

Lifelongdreamer, we were at DHS Sunday that first weekend too!! That was our first day, so I was engrossed in them kids :)
