What else do I need to plan?

We will be visiting US/IOA for 1 day on Sunday 10/1 before we get on our disney cruise the next morning. We have already booked 2 nights at HRH to get the express pass and early entry. We are waiting until the date gets closer to buy tickets. Mainly we are worried about the weather not cooperating and we literally only have that 1 day we can go. I've looked over rides and food etc. Is there any other planning or things I need to be thinking about. I guess i'm bothered by the real lack of need to plan and I feel like i'm forgetting something.

How much planning do you do for any non Disney amusement park? That's what you should do. With only 1 day, I wouldn't waste time on a sit down meal during park hours. Maybe go for a late dinner at CityWalk. Plenty of decent walk up places to eat. Time it to minimize waits (like arrive for lunch by 11:30, dinner at 5).

Ok yea we weren't planning on a big sit down meal. We figured we would be plenty of sit down dining on the cruise. Thanks for your reply!

It definitely feels weird when you are used to WDW planning and are going to Uni for the first time. But do not be afraid. It will be wonderful. EE will go better than any Disney rope drop. You will not even need the express pass for the first two hours. Then whenever you feel like it, the EP is a life saver for getting everything done in one day.

Note that a very few of the rides do not take the EP. When you are EE at Harry Potter get that out of the way first. The other Harry Potter side can be done easily in the evening near closing time after crowds thin.

I say check in as early as you can on Saturday and enjoy the resorts and CityWalk. Tons of exploring to do that you don't need park tix for. Or add a day to those tix for Saturday and you are already sitting on your EP. Go have fun!

I'll differ a little with a previous poster and say that with express pass I don't think you need to plan as much as Disney. If this is your first time at Universal and you have 1 day I'd suggest figuring out which rides are your absolute gotta ride these and hit them after you do the early entry HP areas. Then I'd avoid HP until later in the day when it usually clears out.

Honestly though with EP you can hit a lot and don't need to plan much.
